Fuggiasco by kdc2239
Summary: Edward, homeless since age twelve is used to the gritty, hard life. Now twenty, his main goal is to make it in the world, and off the streets. What happens when a girl who seems to be broken beyond repair becomes his new shadow?

Kdc2239’s Fuggaisco is a gritty tale of a homeless Edward and Bella that takes place in the city of Portland, Oregon. There is a great attention to detail in this story and the grim realities of being homeless are pointed out in a stark reality. Being homeless isn’t glamorous; it’s a hard, soul killing life and kdc pulls no punches.

Edward and Bella meet when he saves her from an attack. She is new to this life and her story is surrounded in mystery. She doesn’t even give Edward her real name, just picks a name off a cardboard box as they try to rest in a dingy alley. Edward has been on the streets since he was twelve years old and once he saves her, she becomes his unwanted shadow.

Bella is a skittish mess, and through the hints that kdc gives in bits and pieces; we can only guess that her story is horrific. Bella is like a puzzle you want to put together, but all the pieces aren’t there to be able to do it yet. There is violence all around Edward and Bella and through kdc’s amazing writing skills; we see glimpses of canon Edward. He wants to protect Bella at all costs, even if he has to risk himself to do so.

Edward hasn’t let street life destroy his humanity and his through his affection to Bella, as it continues to grow, we are able to see how they help each other. The story is realistic and poignant but there is reason to hope. The story pulls you in. It makes you want to jump into their world and just help them because…well because they are Edward and Bella.
