Masquerade by twilightheaded23

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward and Bella have perfected charades of normalcy for the sake of protecting themselves. But when their lives are forced to intertwine, will they be able to see through each other's walls? M for lang/slight angst/lemons . Human/AH/Slightly OOC

This story starts in a bar, continues in a club, and develops in a classroom. Sounds intriguing?

Masquerade is Twilightheaded23’s first multi-chapter fiction, and it’s clear from the beginning that she knows where she wants it to go. The author takes her time setting the scene, establishing the characters (all the usual suspects are here besides Bella and Edward; watch out for a particularly fierce Victoria!), and slowly unraveling their back stories.

From the very first moment they, Bella and Edward, set eyes on each other, it is clear that their attraction is sizzling- and that is one of the things I liked most about this story. There can be no mistake that they are into each other, and they both know it. Obstacles get thrown in their respective paths, and they are both forced to delay their gratification (as are we, the readers!)… but it is inevitable they’ll get together, and when they do… well, I’ll let you find out for yourself, but let’s just say it’s worth the wait!

There’s two other things I liked about this story: one, Bella is a strong, fun, lively character. She does have insecurities and a somewhat troubled past, and she does fall down a lot (I guess you can’t completely escape canon…), but she’s feisty and sassy and someone you’d want to be friends with and, more importantly, keep reading!

Finally, I really liked the way music is tightly woven into the plot. All the characters in this story are into music, in one way or another, and you can really feel the author’s enthusiasm for the subject. It made me want to find out more about some of the songs and authors that she mentions, and that’s always a good thing.

“The music continued, hauntingly beautiful. It ranged across the entire piano and I could feel the emotion behind the piece. It made me feel heartbroken, depressed, all around sad. But when it approached the end, the music changed, leaving me with a nuance of hope.

Whoever was playing though struggled with the last few bars. I could hear them start and stop, varying the chords looking for the right fit. A frustrated bang sounded from above and nearly made me jump out of my chair. I assumed their fists had slammed onto the keys creating the unpleasant sound.

There was a long pause before the familiar sounds of "Here Comes the Sun" reached my ears. What I didn't expect was the voice that started to sing along.

Angel.”

Overall, this is a fun, sexy story that will keep you reading and hoping for a HEA.

"How do you spell love?" Piglet asked.

"You don't spell love," Pooh replied. "You feel it."

“So I made Vigilance my home away from home, and it's surrounding streets - Sagacity, Providence, and Prudence - my haunts. I learned new ways, not for her but for us. I learned to love and respect time with patience because every passing second of it she was growing.
Taller. Stronger. Sweeter.

Every hour, day, and year that passed, more and more new blood vessels bloomed to life in the bluepurple forest just under her skin. Each little red one knew my name and each little white one sang hymns only I understood.” - Edward

This story is not unlike any fic I have ever read, it is unlike anything I have ever read.

I must admit, the first chapter left me confused but still the author kept me totally in tune with her Bella. I didn’t know exactly what Edward and Bella’s relationship was but the signs of pure sweetnesss before he leaves and her sorrow was so unbearable to take, it brought tears to my eyes.

As the story continues to bloom and blossom, I can only imagine the effect YellowGlue’s words will have on me.

This girl writes like water. The words flow effortlessly from her and her writing is more like a watercolor painting than a story. She paints the most vivid images that will evoke strong reactions from all of your senses. How she describes the flower Edward gives Bella in itself shows the traits of a true visionary.

It’s rare to be lucky enough to experience a writing style such as this.

It’s not only like you are there and experiencing it but you actually feel it. Every word has a purpose and has emotion tied to it. And I’m not talking about feeling it, like in a lemon twitching kind of way, but you feel every touch and every gesture of Edwards love.

You just feel it. All of it. Every bit of it.

Bella is a young dancer and it seems as though Edward has been her friend all of her life. He comes in through her window and reads her to sleep every night. They have been together for so long that she remembers him reading her Winnie the Pooh. Freaking massive swoon alert. This story so far as had me swooning more than any other fic but yet in such a different way. Bella and Edward have a special connection and at this part in the story, they aren’t lovers but it’s obvious they are more.

Check out this little beauty of a quote. This is after a pulled muscle from a day of dancing and Edward is trying to soothe Bella’s pain;

“He skimmed his nose over my skin once more, barely touching and I felt him breathe in. I tried to swallow the sound that threatened to come out of me, digging my teeth into the side of my lip as he spoke so low I almost didn't hear him at all.

"Shh," he whispered once more. "I'm talking to God."

I mean come on, really? That’s poetry.

The way YellowGlue describes things seem so natural that it’s inspiring. Stories hit me the hardest when the writers write with so much depth and heart that they make me feel like I’m getting a peak into the window of their soul.

Usually I pick two maybe three quotes but I mean jebus how could I choose? This is an extreme understatement but this Edward has a gift with words,

“Wished I'd been there, next to her when she woke up to sunshine, just once.”

Le sigh...you think that’s good? Hold up....

“I wished for sleep now, instead of death only because I couldn't die. Not yet. Not while her heart was still making music somewhere.”

SWOOOOOOOON

This is a different vamp Edward. He’s so romantic but in a classic gothic way. There’s no mind reading and let’s just say he runs with a different crowd. Also Bella is more to him than a singer and I’m so interested in what his “hunger” for her really is and what it entails. (that’s right, I said hunger, not thirst)

This story is only four chapters in and even though I am not entirely sure what is going on; that doesn’t matter. I feel it, I hunger for more and it sings to me.

YellowGlue is one of those writers that others writers are jealous of and you will be doing yourself a great disservice but not reading this story. If I haven’t convinced you yet just read the Edward gem below;

“I hadn't known what I wanted with her then, just that she was for me and I for her. That I would take all of her, and she all of me.”

Summary: Seeking a break from a devastating hand he's been dealt, Edward Cullen tries to start anew. What he doesn't need is Isabella Swan, and her pretentious perfection...or so he thinks. AH ExB

“Yeah, so we weren't perfect. Not by any means. But for all the ways we were explosive together—fighting, yelling, teasing—we were good, too. And it worked. We worked.

Because as it turned out, she just needed me, too.”

Edward Cullen had it all, or so he thought, until one moment in his life made him turn his back on everything he had once loved. Isabella Swan grew up as nothing more than an afterthought by the one person that should have put her before all. When they meet sparks fly, but not the glorious, beautiful fireworks we’re accustomed to reading with this canon couple. These are firecracker sparks that in a mere second of mishandling, will take your fingers off.

After spending a year running away, Edward decides to root himself where he had once abandoned, studying music at the University of Washington. As part of his re-admission, Dr. Banner assigns Edward an extra assignment; one-on-one piano lessons for a beginner student. He begrudgingly accepts, but considers walking away as soon as he realizes his student is Isabella Swan.

These two have met before and simply put, they both judged each other’s books by their cover. Their journey begins as Edward learns Bella is nowhere near as perfect as he once pegged her, while Bella uncovers the hurt in Edwards past that prohibits him from feeling.

“I Just Needed You” is a short, ten chapter work of fan fiction that is solid from start to finish. What immediately brought me in was the details behind Edward’s characterization. Although he was broody and unsociable, there was something that screamed at me that he simply needed his story told. While Bella, a stereotypically weak written character, was more like an onion. Each layer revealed a stronger character trait than before.

The overall story is short in length, with just enough detail that the reader never feels cheated or bored. While certain areas were given more description then others, the balance between tone, detail, and flow was perfect. I also appreciated that, although the story is told in both Edward and Bella’s point of view, each chapter is unique without much overlapping of the story. Every chapter sees progression, which kept me craving more as I read on.

“I Just Needed You” is a captivating story that shows its readers why things aren’t always as they appear to be and what is hidden beneath the surface can sometimes explain it all.

If you haven’t read it yet, or are a reader that only reads completed fics, I highly recommend “I Just Needed You” by nerac.

Bookends by BellasExecutioner

Rating: NC-17
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: AH/AU Edward and Bella are two lost souls in a sea of lost souls, but love conquers all. Right? Rated M for harsh language/Lemons and Drug Use. Winner of Two Sparkle Awards: The Bella Best Angst & The Heat Best Lemon . R&R Plz.

If you're familiar with me as a writer; not only reading my stories but my interviews and other things, than you know that there are only a few stories and a few authors that I hold up on a pedestal. If you were to ask another fanfiction author who or what their inspiration for writing themselves is, most answers would be Angstgoddess and Wide Awake, EP or maybe even MoTU.

Those examples are wonderful fics; WA was one of my first reads, I think we will all agree on that. While I haven't read the others, I have nothing bad to say except they're not on my list of inspirational fics.

After I finished Wide Awake I discovered my inner angst junkie. I was on the lookout for something to rip me apart and leave me begging for mercy.... So if you do know me then you should already know that my ultimate source of inspiration and my personal hero is BellasExecutioner and her fic Bookends.

'I reverently ran my fingers over the red circles and green ribbons on my post card. I smiled remembering the first picture I got. It was an apple. No note. No words. Just red, perfect shiny apple with our addresses and names on the back side of the page. I had accepted the apple with a hell of a lot of pride. Edward was hard to get along with-even for me. But that little red apple spoke more than any amount of words.' Bella, Chapter 2

I remember reading Bookends and being amazed... It deals with an array of difficulties. Edward and Jasper are siblings and rescued from their drug abusing mother by their Uncle Carlisle. Bella and Emmett are also siblings, living with their single mother Esme, while trying to deal with an insufficient father, Charlie. Jake becomes a Rose, while owning my heart in the process of self-discovery. There are so many layers of depth to this story that trying to explain them all would cheapen the read....

BellasExecutioner leaves me in awe with her words. Her ability to make me feel is what I love about her most. Her Edward and Bella are difficult and frustrating but never once do you ever think that they will not make it. They leave you on edge while you're screaming at you computer screen for them to just fucking listen... To just fucking look. Of course the author doesn't let us off easily....

Angst just to write angst seems to be an on-going trend. People have the tendency to write shit just to make their readers cry, leaving us feeling empty and cheated. Bookends contains angst for reason. There is a reason for so much hurt and struggle. The battle is the point from the very beginning... It’s a lifetime for these characters. We are taken from their childhoods to their late twenties... It’s like watching them every step of the way.

You will cry and you will yell but I promise that you will love....It’s not an easy task to inspire, move or effect me but it’s been done with Bookends and that is why it will always be one of my favorites.

'MUD' Edward, Chapter 6

Summary: What if Edward Cullen weren't a 109-year-old-vampire...what if he were 'born' yesterday? When Bella Swan's truck breaks down in the forest one rainy afternoon, a fateful meeting between the two will alter the course of both of their lives forever. AU, OOC

Two weeks ago AngryBadgerGirl tweeted that this fic needed love, so I decided to check it out. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit apprehensive at first; I’ve read countless amnesia stories, usually about Bella, but after reading the summary, which I found very intriguing, I knew I had to read it! Not to mention it’s complete! It didn’t take long to discover that AngryBadgerGirl was right; this fic definitely deserves more love!

Edward Masen wakes up in the forest one day with absolutely no recollection of who he is or how he got there. He wanders around in search of food and water in an attempt to quench the undeniable hunger pains and burning thirst that he’s feeling. When he happens upon an old hunting cabin, he’s relieved to find bottled water and a few old cans of beans. But the water and beans do nothing to lessen the pain and burning. He’s lost, confused, hungry, and thirsty, and is slowly realizing that he’s a little different than your average human teenage boy. Unable to find anything else to satisfy his hunger and thirst, he heads toward the highway, hoping to find a nearby town.

Bella Swan decides to take a short cut through the forest on her way home work. As luck would have it, her beast of a truck breaks down leaving her stranded in a thunder storm, without a cell phone signal. She has no other choice but to start walking. She doesn’t get far before bumping into Edward. Watching the way the rain cascades down his face and the lightening highlights his incredulous features; she is instantly mesmerized by him.

After a brief conversation, Bella decides to keep walking to find help, but she trips and Edward breaks her fall. Still holding onto Bella, Edward is suddenly consumed and it doesn’t take long before another part of him takes over, realizing he’s found what he needs to finally satiate his agonizing hunger and burning thirst.

“A final stab of fear woke me to the fact that death was, indeed coming, and I inhaled deeply in a choking gasp, a sickening gurgling noise coming from my ravaged throat. The boy blinked at the sound, as if waking from the same trance I had, and looked down at me with warm, soft gray eyes. It was as if the storm clouds had lifted, leaving a clear blue sky in their wake.

His expression soon changed from calm to agitation as he gazed down at me…as if he just realized what he had done. Even as his features blurred in my fading eyesight, I saw an unmistakable look of guilt and horror seize his face as he viewed his handiwork.

"No," I heard him whisper in a ragged baritone, his hands stroking my hair and smoothing it off of my face. "No!" He knelt over and I whimpered pitifully as his lips grazed my cheek. "I'm sorry," he whispered, over and over. "Please forgive me."

Unable to reply or to move, I simply stared into his beautiful eyes, uncomprehending. A bright light slashed over us…more lightning?…and his haunted expression was the last thing I saw before the dark night enveloped me”

That’s all I can tell you. You’ll have to read it yourself to find out what happens next. But I can tell you that Gemgirl65’s writing is impeccable. I can tell you that Amnesia is a lost gem that is certainly in need of more love. I can tell you that not one character will act the way you think they will at one time or another. I can tell you that Gemgirl65 can write lemons that will leave you in need of a cold shower and a generous supply of dry panties! And I can tell you that while this Edward is utterly lost and confused, he is the sweetest (non sickly sweet), most romantic Edward that I’ve come across in a long, long time, and he doesn’t even know he’s doing it! My God, the swoon worthy moments in this fic are just…. GAH! And the UST…! *fans self*

This is probably the hardest review that I’ve ever had to write because I don’t want to give too much away. Have you ever come across a fic and think, If this were Twilight we’d all still be here? That’s exactly what I thought after reading Amnesia.

I kept waiting for all the cliché events to happen, you know the ones we all read about in so many fics, human and vamp alike; but they never happened. At each plot twist I was convinced I knew which way Gemgirl65 was going to take it; but it never happened.

The entire story has a completely different spin. The characters have some different personality traits and even some of the vampires have different gifts. Not everything is what it seems. While this is a Twilight based fanfiction, Gemgirl65 has certainly taken the reigns by using a menagerie of different vampire traits to make it her own as much as possible. Stephenie Meyer might have named these vamps, but Gemgirl has made them a touch more human; and supplied the lemons! And let me tell ya, the girl can write a lemon!

Go! Go now… Read Amnesia, and don’t forget to leave Gemgirl65 some love in the form of a review!

If you prefer to read on Twilighted.net, Gemgirl65 has recently posted Amnesia there as well. http://www.twilighted.net/viewstory.php?sid=13376

Summary: Bella's tryst with power made her infamous. Hounded and ashamed, she's back in Forks to start over again, but where do you find a clean slate when everyone who sees you already knows your biggest secret?

This story was another recommendation from my lovely fic angel. Once I began reading this addicting story, I simply couldn’t get enough.

In the first chapter, we are introduced to an outwardly confident Bella and a thoughtful, handsome Edward. Bella likes to think she’s better, bigger and brighter than the little town of Forks where she is spending her summer before grad school. She meets Edward at a party and physically things progress quickly. As her inner truths and fears are revealed, we realize she feels an immediate solace in his presence. It’s a security in his quiet strength that she longs for. Until, the next day when a phone call changes everything and we’re left wondering what is Bella’s true reality.

My actions all define me. And it sucks, but it's not unfair. I'm certainly not innocent. I don't think I ever wanted to be innocent. But this life? I never thought that this would be the price I'd have to pay. – Chapter 1

The story is told from Bella’s point of view. Through her inner monologue we experience her vulnerability and insecurity. littlesecret84 offers a beautifully textured character through her masterful writing. Bella has a disdain for her hometown that is evident in her thoughts. Yet, a life altering experience forces her back there.

Nine months later we find out the truth of her actions and how they’ve affected her life. Her preferred environment and friends appear superficial and detrimental. Her long term lover is also quite complicated and only seems to intensify Bella’s demons. She has no one to honestly confide in and trust. Ultimately, we see that Bella’s history provides her with low expectations.

I think about that night, and I'm blushing, not because of what I did, but because I'm embarrassed of how hopeful I was and how I thought I could spend a summer with a complete stranger just because he was nice to me in bed. – Chapter 3

Bella maintains a love hate relationship with the notoriety that she has. She hates the scrutiny, but she loves to share her story. Edward’s desirable character of beloved small town hero is the antithesis to Bella. He is respected and adored. Upon her return to Forks, she finds herself battling with her desire for him. She uses anger and avoidance as her chosen weapons. Her family dynamics are also stressed and layered in misunderstanding. The relationship she has with her father is often strained, pushing her further into frustration and disgust with her present living situation. Bella does possess guilt for what they have endured at the hand of her disgrace. Emotions are heightened and words are explosive.

littlesecret84, also author of the brilliant Brown Study and Age of Consent, has a writing style that is vivid, captivating and unique. At seven chapters in, the journey into this infamous Bella’s past and present is only just beginning. Enjoy losing yourself in this mature, original and layered plot with its rich and believable characters.

A parent’s worst nightmare, a phone call from one parent to another asking where their child is because they never made it home from school. Well, that is exactly what happens to Edward in the first chapter of Blind Intentions by SammieLynnsMom. At the start of the story we are introduced to Edward Cullen, respected doctor, husband and father. We learn that he and Bella had a brief encounter in college, which leads to a son named Nathan. Even though they tried to make a relationship work, they found they were better parents than partners. We start the story eight years later right before Nathan’s 8th birthday, and we find Edward married to Tanya and co-parenting Nathan with Bella. They are friends and seem to have perfected the blended family from all outside appearances. Not everything is as perfect as it seems.

"Edward, where is my son?" she screeched through the phone.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, because really it wasn't like Bella to call me out of the blue. Out of the two of us, Bella was always the calmer parent. For her to call me, in a panic, was alarming.

"I asked where Nathan is! When I went to the bus stop to pick him up, the driver told me he wasn't there this morning. So I called the school and they said he was absent today."

"Bella, he was at home when I left. Let me call Tanya, maybe he woke up sick or something." Panic began to take over me as I hightailed it into my office. Tanya would have called me if she kept him home, at least she did last time. And I had talked to her earlier, she didn't mention anything.

I hung up on Bella, although not on purpose, so I could quickly dial my house number.

"Hello baby," Tanya's flirty voice filled the receiver.

"Is Nathan with you?" I asked quickly.

"No, it's not our day to have him. I dropped him at the bus stop this morning and…"

"So he's not home?" I interrupted.

"I just said…"

"And did you watch him get on the bus?" Every red flag in my brain was lighting up like a Christmas tree.

"Um no, but Ed.."

My fingers started working before my mind could catch up.

"Hello?" Bella was in tears, I could hear it in her voice.

"He's missing, Bella. He's missing."

It grips your heart and your mind, from the get-go and we are taken on a intriguing, and frightening mystery with this couple, and their families as they search desperately for their child.

"He's not dead, I'm his mother, I would know. Dad, he's not dead!" she kept repeating over and over again while she paced the living room floor.

"Bella..."

"No Edward, he's not..."

"Bel-"

"NO! HE IS NOT DEAD!"

And then she fell.

And then my world fell.

We had our answer.

This story is seven chapters in, and the more questions that are answered, the more questions we, as the reader, have. It’s a fantastic story with mystery and drama and heart clenching emotion. The author does a wonderful job replying to reviews and providing teasers and making each and every reader feel like they are taking this journey with the main characters. Make sure and check out this intriguing story.

Summary: Desperate for a job, Bella meets with Esme and Carlisle Salmon, who have been trying to conceive for four years. She falls in love with them both, and decides to become their surrogate. Her best friends are all getting married and pregnant, they'll be sure to help her through it. And it's only for nine months, right? Angsty.

I started reading this story because of the cliffy in the summary and it did not disappoint. You find Bella fresh out of grad school and single. She is looking for a job and a way to use her degree and make some money. Everyone around her has grown and changed and she feels stuck. Looking through the want ads she finds something she didn’t even realize she was looking for.

She sat in the rocking chair in the nursery and wiped a small tear out of her eye. "You can't understand how badly we want this Bella. You are giving us such a wonderful gift."

"I'm glad I can do it." I said honestly. I might have gone to that house for the wrong reasons, but they had all changed as soon as I met Esme. I wanted to carry this baby for them. Only them.

Meeting Carlisle and Esme changed everything for Bella. You can feel the love that they have for each other and the desire to have a child. You can feel the connection that they make with Bella and how they become fast friends.

Esme walked to the cup and stared at it for a moment before grabbing the stick and placing it on the counter on tissue paper. I didn't look. When I finally realized my eyes were closed I looked to Esme. She was looking at me with tears in her eyes.

I'm not pregnant.

A small sob escaped my chest. "Oh my God, Esme I'm sorry." I said quickly. "We can try again. I'll go as soon as we can."

A small sob of a laugh escaped from Esme. "No, Bella," she said, "you're pregnant." She broke down, sitting on the floor of my bathroom while I sat next to her and the both of us cried. She was so happy. They were finally having a baby.

Watch as Bella goes through the pregnancy and all the ups and downs that follow. See how she deals with her life and what she goes through after a tragic event that changes all the rules. Her relationships change and grow as does her stomach. This was a wonderful story that has happy and sad at times. You will love this story and how it makes you think about what is and what isn’t important in life.

The Long Walk Home by bsmog

Rating: M
Genre: Angst/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Broken by his experiences in the Civil War, Edward marches with Jasper and Emmett to Gettysburg. A stolen night's sleep leads him to the girl he thinks could save him, but the battle rages on, and his duty could destroy them both. AH. Canon pairings.

The Long Walk Home has turned out to be one of my all time favorite completed fics. When I first started reading, I had no idea who bsmog was and though I wasn't one for historical type fics, I was looking for something a little bit different and I'm so glad I started following it. Bsmog is a fantastic writer (and an even more amazing person - I know, I've met her in RL!) The Long Walk Home is beautifully written, historically accurate and the characters are so easy to relate to. You can feel every little emotion they have. Bsmog does a beautiful job illustrating the war and what it was like for the soldiers and civilians during the 1860’s. At times, her writing pops off the screen and it makes you feel as though you’re there in the thick of the battle. She provides just enough detail of the war without it feeling like a history lesson.

We’ve been walking forever.

It feels like forever anyway. I can’t remember what it feels like to have one whole day when I’m not walking. Or fighting. We only stop walking to fight. Then we bury our brothers and our cousins and our friends and pick up our wounded and start walking again. Only way a man doesn’t have to keep walking is if he’s hurt bad or dead.

Sometimes I look out at those dead boys all scattered across the fields of Virginia or Maryland and I think I might just like to trade places with them. They just look so peaceful laying there where they fell. Even the mounds of freshly moved soil where makeshift graves mark the final resting place for so many look soft and inviting, though they won’t for long once the scavengers get to them. And their occupants don’t have to walk anymore.

Of course they aren’t peaceful, they’re empty shells that once were men, piled one atop the other in shallow, nameless graves. But I’m empty too, and I still have to keep on walking and fighting.

It begins with Edward, Emmett and Jasper walking along towards another battle. The boys are tired, achy and it seems as though Edward is ready to give up, until they stumble along what looks to be an abandoned barn owned by none other than our three favorite girls: Bella, Rose and Alice. Could Edward, Jasper and Emmett now have found a reason to keep on fighting? Could they have found a reason to come home from that war?

By using multiple POV's, Bsmog gives us a well rounded insight into the events of the story (and the war), which captivates us all the more. The girls are strong and independent, something rare during that particular time period. The boys are young, brave, and exhibit the kind of gentlemanly behavior you'd expect from that particular time period.

So if you’re looking for a well written fic with excellent characterization, passion, action and a bit of heartache stirred in; I definitely recommend The Long Walk Home.

Running With a Red Angel by danieller123

Review by KylaPricky
*This story is no longer available*

Rating: M
Genre: Angst/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: He didn't stop anything. It starts, where it ends. Bella/Edward. Vampires. Slightly OOC. A/U

Running with a Red Angel is a story that goes down a different path with the “la tua cantante” aspect of The Twilight Saga.

What if Edward had listened to Alice and let Bella get hit in the school parking lot on that fateful day? What if Edward not only didn’t save Bella but he instead couldn’t resist the temptation of her sweet blood spilling on the parking lot? What if he just had to have her?

“Bella finds her book and closes the door to her truck. Her eyes stay on the front cover, reading it. I look away and pull out my keys, placing the metal to the keyhole, but that is when it happens. Brakes squeal. Horns honk. My body remains still, but I see everything through Tyler's thoughts.

Bella's eyes still reading the cover to her book. The panic on his face. Mike covering his face. Jessica Stanley cursing that he is an asshole for pulling out ahead of her. It was her fault, though. She was applying lip gloss. Not paying attention. He doesn't know how to stop the van. His brakes are locked up. Sliding across the icy pavement of the parking lot. And headed right for…

"Should have ditched, Bella," I mutter to myself, before turning in preparation to make it to her side, planning on pulling her out of the way.

But, Bella looks up to see what is about to happen. Tyler's van. The horror fills her eyes. Her mouth slipping open. No sound, but her heart starting to race. I am close and hear Rosalie cursing as she sees what I am about to do.

Alice's warning, but it's too late for me to change my direction. Instead of standing still, Bella tries to dodge the van, not knowing I was about to keep her out of harms way. She places herself right in it's path. Past her truck. Out of Tyler's reach, but directly into Jessica Stanley, who is still not paying attention to her driving. Radio turned up. Cell phone to her ear. Mirror adjusted to see herself, not others.

Not Bella.

Don't! Alice warns.

My body stays in place, freezing instantly as her body collides with the Corolla. Her head smacks the pavement from the impact. I smell it before I see it. Fresh. Hot. Wet. Intoxicating. I am faster than my siblings. Alice has already seen the next move. She is already preparing the scene. Ushering Jessica and Angela away. Emmett has a hold of Jasper, pulling him back from what he should be stopping me from doing. Rosalie watches as Tyler's van has pulled away, missing Bella and Jessica hitting her.

She does nothing to stop me, for her own selfishness. Her own fears of Bella having seen me coming. What she should fear is what comes next...”

I have loved being introduced to this Edward and I can’t wait to see what springs from him next. He seems to have all the qualities of Edward that we all know and yearn for, but there is something different to him. Since the story is just beginning to blossom, I can’t say for sure what the big difference is, but I do believe it has something to do with him being a vampire.

I think this Edward may actually be a believable vamp. (Yes! Ok everyone, now it is the time for fist pumps and happy dances.)

One of the threads in this story that makes me think these vamps will indeed be quite vampy is the newborn Bella that rises in Chapter 2...

“A sigh escapes his chest. "I suppose there is no gentle way of saying this…you were….you were in an accident."

I hear laughter from the other room. A man. Woman. It doesn't seem to please him. He closes his eyes, tightly.

"Do you remember anything, Bella?"

I sweep my legs under me, hands on the tops of my thighs. "I remember you."

"And?"

My mouth opens…I think there is something, but no. I try harder. It's all fuzz and blankness. The anger flares up in my chest again. I feel my nails scrape, tearing the fabric of my jeans; balling up my fists.

"What did you do to me?"

"Easy."

I'm on my feet. "Don't tell me how to be. I wanna know what you've done."

His eyes grow old, looking tired and abandoned. "You're my singer. I had no choice."

"No choice in what?" From the bed, to right in front of him. My palms shoving at his chest. "And what the hell is a singer, you crazy asshole?"

He captures my wrists. "In changing you, Bella. Even if you would have lived…the blood…I couldn't stop myself. You pulled me in. It was like…the name. It makes perfect sense."

My face twists in irritation. Disbelief. "I sang to you? Is that what…wait…stop yourself from changing me? Changing me to what?" He is silent and I lunge forward, pinning him down this time. "Changed me from what to what?"

"A vampire." Except, that wasn't the pretty boy...”

My blood is bubbling to see this Bella in action. She starts off with a bang as a newborn and I don’t see her slowing her roll anytime soon. Edward and the Cullen’s have their work cut out for them with this Bella.

This story is two chapters in and I can tell the author is just getting ready to tap into the vampire world in a new and creative way for this fandom.

Give this fic a taste and let it prove to you how it can sing.

River Dam by jennyfly
Review by Dragonfly336

Rating: R
Genre: Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward bides his time in Forks counting the days til he can leave the sleepy town forever. But fate halts his departure, and he must learn to see Forks as a home instead of a prison. ...

Don’t you love when you find a story that you can’t put down and when you are done with it, you just want to tell everyone you know to drop whatever they are doing and go read the story right now?? Well, River Dam by jennyfly is that story.

When we meet Edward, he is a senior in high school. He comes from a blue collar family and desperately does not want to turn out like his father and brother by staying in the small town of Forks and working for the local construction company. He has big dreams of leaving Forks and traveling the world before going off to college. He has saved every penny that he has made since he was eleven years old, so that he can see this dream come to fruition.

At the beginning of his senior year, he meets Bella. This is such a true-to-life love story. It isn’t love and desire at first sight. It is the gradual falling in love, that most of us can relate to.

What you have to know is this: Falling in love is not this big complicated thing you think it’s going to be before it actually happens to you. At first, you’re trying to get laid. And then all of the sudden it feels like the first slightly warm day after a long, brutal winter. You know the kind of day: when you walk outside and it smells like damp mud and worms—but in a good way—and you don’t need a coat and the sky is blue and you just know that nothing will bring you down the whole day. That you’re above it all.

Then, when you’re making plans for Friday night, you’re not thinking ‘How am I going to ditch this girl after I get what I want?’ You’re thinking ‘I hope to God Crowley and Cheney have plans and don’t bug us.’ You’re thinking ‘I wonder what she would think about this movie’ and ‘Oh, green beans for dinner. She hates green beans.’

And then you’re driving down to the river on a really sunny Saturday when wildflowers have begun to paint the roadsides, and you’re wondering if you even have to say I love you because she’s just got to know it from the way it shows in every thought and every word.”

At the end of his senior year Bella gets pregnant and throws a curve into all of Edward’s plans.

What I love the most about this story is that it is real. This is a truthful account of teenage pregnancy. It isn’t all happiness and sunshine. They aren’t thrilled at the idea of having a baby and when they do, it isn’t automatically a wonderful life for them.

Jennyfly is an amazing writer and her imagery and storytelling is stunning. I cried more than once for these kids and the situation that was thrust upon them. So...stop what you are doing and go read this right now!!

Empires of the Mind by Hibbleton78
Review by 4string

Rating: M
Genre: Mystery/Supernatural
Characters: Bella & Edward

Summary: Graduate student Bella Swan is hiding her special gift, but two groups are aware of her. One wants to use her for less than noble purposes and the other wants to nurture her gift and protect her from the enemy. It becomes a tense game of cat and mouse trying to dodge The Volturi.

First off, let me say that I have an affinity for fics that have supernatural elements. I love the mystery and excitement that can stem from a well written mystical story. I also like it when stories dive right into the plot, rather than taking a painstaking, circuitous path that makes the reader lose interest before the good stuff even happens. Empires of the Mind is one of the good ones that sinks its teeth right in. I’m so glad that I was asked to review it because I would have never heard of it otherwise.

The story starts out with a mysterious pair watching a group of five people with special powers to gauge their weaknesses and conquer them in order to bring them into their organization, The Volturi. They are sort of like the mafia but with powers. They also discover that another gifted one lives nearby, a telekinetic named Bella Swan. Those with powers can sense when others like them are near and they tend to sense those who are around their own age which in this case is the early to middle 20s.

The group of five is obviously Alice (a clairvoyant), Jasper (an empath), Edward (a mind reader), Rosalie (power of astral projection), and Emmett who has the ability to gain knowledge out of the blue whenever he needs it. He puts it simply that he is a genius. It almost makes me think of The Matrix and when if Neo needed to learn how to do something, it was simply downloaded into his brain.

We meet Alice first as she is the one who notices a bored Bella in her class playing with her pen using her powers.

A small gasp from the next desk startled her. She slapped her hand over the pen, immediately halting it in its place. Bella looked over to see a small girl with short, almost black hair arranged in artful spikes. Had she been wearing the wrong clothes and no make-up, the girl could've easily passed for someone in her early teens, but Bella was sure that they had to be about the same age.

She was prepared to offer her canned response, but the look on the girl's face stopped her before she could utter the first word. Her heart pounded in her chest as a numb feeling washed over her while she pondered the implications. There was recognition in her neighbor's eyes, and although there was no reason for Bella to think that the girl could be certain of what she saw, she somehow knew that her standard explanation wouldn't be blindly accepted.

After some push and pull, Bella is taken into Alice’s group. Emmett, Alice and Jasper take to her immediately where Rosalie and Edward are a bit hesitant. It is explained that Rosalie likes people to earn her respect and I’m still not quite sure what Edward’s problem is (the fic is only up to chapter 10 so far), but we do know he’s got some trust issues.

My favorite part so far is when the group starts training Bella. After some more trial and error, it is discovered that Bella is actually psychokinetic meaning that she can also work with the mental as well as physical. Emmett tries nicknaming her Psycho, but it doesn’t quite stick.

Jasper scooted forward in his own seat and casually rested his elbows on his knees. "It's basically the same thing as telekinesis, but with a wider scope. From what we can tell, you aren't limited to physical objects. Your ability seems to work on the intangible as well. So, just like you can control the things around you, you can also control anything we might be throwing at you with our abilities."

"You're blocking us." Bella's head jerked to the side in surprise, not expecting Edward to speak. "You're blocking us, and whatever we try to do to get into your head is deflecting right back." His words were short and bluntly stated, and Bella's eyes narrowed at him in response.

We get to see Emmett don a ridiculous bright red safety suit and get thrown against walls and down wrestling mats by Bella. She stretches her abilities and while tussling with Edward, they discover she can actually levitate. If she can move other people, why not try to move herself? It makes total sense.

We can’t forget the folks that want her for their own personal gain, The Volturi. Demetri and Felix finally discover who she is and basically stalk her, but our dear Bella is not going to take that lying down. This Bella may be trying to be on the down low, but she’s not above some good snark at her stalker’s expense.

They continued their trek across campus, the silence between them not nearly as uneasy as before. The small shift between the two kept Bella's mind so occupied that she almost missed Felix in his usual spot. In fact, the only thing that alerted her was a low grumble from Edward as he used his hand at her back to urge her to move faster. She looked at him in confusion and followed his gaze over to the bench where Felix was sitting with a textbook—his standard prop—sitting open on his lap and a cocky smirk on his face.

She wasn't sure what prompted her to do it, but she was tired of seeing Felix day after day seeming to enjoy her discomfort. Looking directly at him, she lifted one hand and waved it dramatically, as sarcastic and insolent as she could manage. Her blatant and shameless display drew the attention of a number of her fellow students who all looked over at the bench. She smiled smugly when she saw Felix shift uncomfortably under the scrutiny.

I am totally enjoying this story and can’t wait for chapter eleven. So if you love a good supernatural fic that keeps you wanting for more, I highly recommend this one.

All That Jazz by Javamomma0921

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Angst
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: AH/AU Set in 1919. Meet orphan sisters, Bella and Alice Swan, as they journey to Chicago to meet their Aunt Esme, brazen, disowned sister of their mother. Join Bella as she learns the true meaning of marriage and love. M for adult themes and later lemons.

If you only ever read one historical fic, make All That Jazz your one and you will not be disappointed. Javamomma0921 sets up a beautifully captivating tale that is richly detailed and has wonderful characterizations. It is easy to get lost in 1919 when reading about orphaned sisters Bella and Alice Swan and their adventures as they move into a very different world from the one in which they were raised.

When their very traditionally-minded mother passes away, the girls are sent to Chicago to live with their Aunt Esme, Uncle Carlisle, and Cousin Emmett. While Alice looks forward to the freedom that will come with this major life change, Bella dreads her now unstable future. She fears she will not fit in or have the life she had been expecting without her mother there to guide her and find her a husband.

Nothing goes as either girl expects as they begin to change the way they see the world and acknowledge that while neither agrees with their mother’s worldview, there were important lessons learned from Renee Swan that still hold and shape their lives.

This story follows canon couples: Esme and Carlisle, Emmett and Rosalie, Alice and Jasper, and of course, Bella and Edward, through 1920’s style courting rituals and social engagements. While the setting and impetus for this story could not be more apart from the original inspiration, the characterizations are simply perfect. Bella, Alice, and all the rest behave as you would expect them to in these circumstances. I am sure that this is a tale Bella herself would love, full of romance and remarkable beauty; it is stunning and I am sure it will be to the very end.

The Publishing Rack by bicoastaltwigals
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6298980/1/The_Publishing_Rack
Review by JaimeArkin

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Humor
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward is caught in a downward spiral while Bella is dead set on climbing her way to the top. Can they find common ground? A collaboration from TwiReaderAbi & ImwithPattz. Rated M for Lemons cuz that's what you really want , drug use, language, etc.

The Publishing Rack is a joint venture between TwireaderAbi and ImwithPattz. Honestly I came across this fic when a tweet came out stating that whoever reviewed first got a prize... Bribing works wonders for me.. just saying. After reading the first chapter I was so happy I clicked I can't even explain it. This story certainly doesn't take itself seriously and I love that about it. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm just as much of an angst h00r as the next reader, but I like funny fics too! I always get asked to rec a story that isn't angsty and is kind of lighthearted and this fits the bill!

"Determined, I looked determined. I hoped I didn't look constipated. Gosh, did this furrowed brow thing I was trying make me look constipated? Constipation isn't a laughing matter, but when you're aiming to look serious and authoritative, well, it's just not going to garner the esteem you're working towards. Great googley moogley. I ditched the serious/constipated look and settled for a thin lipped grimace instead. I barreled down the pathway, hurtling myself into Charlotte's cube. " - chapter 1

Bella in this story is so annoyingly weird it's endearing. The best part is that she doesn't think that she's the odd one. She takes her job at Masen Publishing very seriously and is ecstatic when she moves up becoming the Assistant to the CEO. We soon find out that Mr. Masen has a special job for Bella... little does she know that it has nothing to do with publishing. Enter Edward.

Edward is Mr. Masen's son who just graduated from UCLA. He was supposed to start working for the company, but has requested some additional time to 'sow his oats'. We learn very quickly that Edward is going to be trouble for our Bella.

"Who is this girl? I can smell her, see her, taste her on my tongue but there is that oh so fuzzy buzzy feeling like I have never even really met her. She is the "mystery of the day" in the life of C. Edward Masen III. It felt like she was a mirage. If it weren't for the fact that l could smell her and feel the rocking of the bed I would have thought she was a dream, or a manifestation of the myriad of drugs swimming through my blood." - Chapter 2

This is how we're introduced to Edward, after a night of drinking and drugs and eventually hooking up with a girl who he can't even remember the name of, we can see where his priorities lie.

The special assignment that Mr. Masen assigns Bella to do is spy on Edward and give him a daily account as to what he has been up to. Bella's shopping trip to Newton's Outfitters for supplies had me giggling endlessly.

"While there was certainly no shortage of baseball hats, that wasn't the look I was trying to achieve. I needed something that said "international man of mystery." Uh, I mean "woman." Geezoman, I watched too many movies this weekend. At the end of the aisle of baseball hats sat one lone spinning wire rack with only a sprinkling of hats on it. I stood leisurely spinning it, leaned back on one foot, my hip jutted out as my hope of finding something suitable quickly waned. Then I saw it; it wasn't perfect but it certainly had more potential than anything else in Newton's. A red skiing beret. I envisioned it set jauntily on my head while I sat on a park bench pretending to read the newspaper, peering over the top every so often to keep tabs on Mr. Masen's delinquent son. I would be deep undercover, no one would recognize me." - Chapter 3

This is a work in progress... in fact, it just started. Four chapters are posted with more on the way soon I hope. So if you are looking for something lighthearted and fun this is a story for you. Please head on over and give it a read, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Engine 17 by EmmaleeWrites05

Review by agrutle

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Hurt/Comfort
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward is fresh out of the Fire Academy and gets hired to the hottest fast paced fire department in the Seattle area meeting the closest tight nit fire family there is. Only they will help him get through the darkness he harbors from his past and see what's in store for his future. Perhaps a brown eyed beauty with a past of her own will help him along the way to becoming the firefighting hero of his dreams. Rated M for fire and medical situations you probably never thought you would know and of course – maybe some of the citrus variety along the way.

Let me just say that reading a story about a fire fighting Edward was one of the easiest things I have ever done. Emmaleewrites05 has a way of making this story feel like your reading a movie of their lives. No, not everything is picture perfect, but they have a way of being the couple you want them to be despite their flaws. Everything is so descriptive that you can’t help but feel as though you are right there with them.

“I could feel the tingling in my fingers as the adrenaline raced through my system. This was it. This is what I have been waiting for. Several years of college, many hours of volunteer time and now I stand at the precipice of love. Not love for another in the sense of being in love. No, love for the chase, for the fight.”

As Edward and Bella go through the day to day life as firefighters you see their relationship grow. Knowing that they both have issues from their pasts only makes you want them to fight that much harder for each other.

“I can't let him get that close where one or both of us gets hurt because of my past. It's the reason why I don't do commitment; it's the reason why I can't get close to anyone on more than a friend level. It's why I am preprogrammed to fail. I'm never going to be good enough, so why try just so I can fail? It wasn't worth it. So if I have to do one night stands, spend eternity living in my studio apartment alone and just have my friends as company – I'll do it. I don't ever want to be that person who inflicts the same heartbreak I had on anyone else.”

This author had a way of putting everything technical in to the story without making you feel overwhelmed. You could tell that she has a knowledge about the inter-workings of the life of firefighters and EMT’s. The ups and downs of this story make for an exciting and emotional journey. I think you should check out this amazing story about some hot firefighters that lead interesting lives.

Discovering You, Discovering Me by JSFazz
Review by sscana

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Humor
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward Cullen was branded a geek and bullied every day of his life. Bella Swan was always awkward, never quite knowing where she fit in. Together they learn a bit about themselves and each other. Will they discover love as well?

Ladies, I just want to tell you upfront that this is my favorite Geekward ever, or as Bella likes to call him, Mr. Cullen.

I am so in love with this little fic…

Bella has always been awkward, a klutz, and a little bit of an outcast. But she was lucky enough to become best friends with Alice, who shielded Bella from being ridiculed by everyone in school. Edward, on the other hand, had grown up being labeled the biggest dork ever and has been tormented since he was a small child by everyone in the town, except Bella.

The story starts off with Alice trying to cheer up Bella. Bella has recently lost her father and has moved back into their old house to try to get her life back on track. She has nothing but Alice’s friendship.

Thanks to Alice forcing Bella out for a night on the town, Bella catches a cold and is off to the local pharmacy for meds. And this is where I really fall in love with this story. Guess who the pharmacist is? Yes, my beloved Geekward.

Bella goes to the pharmacy counter and finds Edward working and falls immediately for the geeky, timid man she sees behind the counter. She knows just instantly that he is still that shy awkward boy from school. He seems terrified to socialize the very moment she starts talking to him. His mouth is agape and he’s trying to think of something to say but nothing is coming out. Bella realizes she’s not going to get more than a nod at the questions she is asking him and moves on.

But, to her surprise, he follows her to the cold and flu aisle and is asking all kinds of questions trying to help her. He wants to make sure that she gets the right meds and I think you can tell pretty quickly that he really likes her.

As the story progresses, Bella finds out all of the store’s gossip from Lauren and Jessica, of course. They fill her in on everything to do with the sexy Geekward, from how he doesn’t talk to anyone and if he could lose the hideous penny loafers and clothes, he could be drool-worthy. Bella is already getting peeved that they talk about him this way, but she holds her tongue and just listens until they reveal that Edward’s assistant is retiring.

Edward hires Bella and, of course, her first day cannot go off without a few glitches. We are talking about klutzy Bella here. One should really make sure the lid is on the amoxicillin bottle before shaking it! Poor Edward gets covered in a pink gooey mess. Personally, I wouldn’t mind helping him clean up.

Bella learns quickly that just being friends with Edward is going to be much harder than she thought.

“All I could recall were Edward's piercing stares, subtle touches, his bare muscular chest and sculpted jaw under my fingertips, his sweet scented breath washing over my face, his soft velvety voice in my ear, his laughter, the heat from his body as we seemed to instinctively gravitate towards each other…”

Shit, I'm in trouble.

Bella decides that she needs to take Edward to the mall that Saturday to do a little shopping for the clothes she ruined at work that week. She catches on that Edward doesn’t do his own shopping and he is so scared and timid about all the people around, that she grabs his hand. Edward relaxes instantly with her.

I was doing fist pumps for Bella myself right here!

Bella is trying to tell Edward she likes him the way he is and not to change for anyone because he starts talking about how he knows he’s dork and no one likes him and how stupid he must seem that his mother does his shopping. But Bella being the bolder of the two will have none of that.

"I feel so awful that I barely gave you the time of day growing up. I'm only now realizing how much I missed out on by not allowing myself the chance to know you. My life could have been completely different. I guess I had my own issues. I mean, I never really knew where I fit in. I was always such a plain Jane, and I still am. I basically followed Alice around like a lost puppy that she took in, but our friendship meant the world to me. She and Charlie were all I had. I've spent the past decade of my life walking around in a haze, not knowing where I belonged. But last week, when I saw you and you touched my face…something happened inside me. It was like something sprang to life and my eyes were opened for the very first time to see something I never thought possible for me. It kills me that you were treated so horribly as a kid, and if I could I'd go back in time and kick every one of those punks' asses. But don't let it define who you are, Edward. You don't see yourself clearly at all. Because what I see is a beautiful, intelligent, caring man who makes my heart stop every time he looks at me.".

"Can I keep you?" he whispered.”

I think Edward’s “Can I keep you” line is one of my all time favorite lines EVER!!!!

Let’s just say that when Geekward gives a kiss to Awkwardella, everyone may need to change their panties!

As this story progresses, Bella becomes the best little momma bear ever protecting her man. I love seeing Bella being the stronger of the two and not letting anyone put her or her man down.

“Everything in me wanted to go Mama Bear on Crowley's ass and claw him to pieces before wrapping my arms so tight around Edward he'd have no choice but to stop shaking. Miraculously, however, a wee bit of logic wormed its way into my brain and managed to override my emotions temporarily so I could get a handle on this situation, as all eyes in the store were now trained on the pharmacy counter. I had to be professional about this, no matter how much I wanted to protect Edward.”

This last chapter made me fall in love with Geekward and Awkwardella even more. We got to see some of their back story. Yes, it was sad and made me wanted to cuddle them both. But it was also hot and sexy. Edward may have never been with a woman before but that boy definitely goes after what he wants.

“Suddenly, like someone just flipped a switch, Edward was back in horny aggressive mode. Soon enough we were all lips and tongues again. I had Edward's hair gripped in my fists once more as his hands began to wander. His left hand was already wrapped around my hip while his other remained planted beside my head, holding his weight off me.

It was then my mind totally switched off and my body took over. I bent my knees, pushing Edward off of me momentarily before wrapping my legs around his waist and cradling him between my thighs.

I could feel him easily, hard and rigid, and right there”

The end of this chapter left my mouth agape and DYING for more. Here’s to hoping we get an update soon. This girl is missing her Geekward.

JSFazz does a wonderful job of writing this story with such a sweet adorable couple that you cannot help but fall in love with them. I’m dying to see how this story plays out. It’s just on chapter 10 now. So ladies, please read and join Miss JSFazz on this amazing journey into what l know will be one of the cutest and funniest love stories out there.
