A Race Against Time by tanglingshadows

Genre: Romance/Suspense
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: A group of trackers. One target's scent. A continent. This is the Challenge, and Edward Masen is about find out that in world ruled by vampires, there's no such thing as secrets. AU

Right from the get-go this story sucked me in, leaving me wanting more at the end of each update. This is a vampire fic like no other. What if vampires walked among us every day and everyone was aware of it. Everyone knows the vampires rule the world and that at any moment someone might just disappear and never be heard from again. Well ladies, this little fic does an amazing job of bringing us into that world.

I love how Tanglingshadows writes. She brings her characters to life and makes them seem like real people. She does such an amazing job with explaining the talents of all the vampires. She really makes you feel like you are part of her story.

Edward is not the typical mindreading vampire he always is. He's a tracker. Most vampires do not have a talent in this story but all are amazing trackers. Which you learn quickly.

Edward has been a vampire for years, just going through the motions, until he meets Bella. She's eighteen and full of life. Instantly, he falls for her and has to prove to her that he wants more than just her blood. Seriously, Edward follows her home like a little lost puppy just wanting to be near her, whatever she'll give him. Tell me you ladies wouldn't think twice about going out with such a sexy vampire. Over time, Bella thinks they have become quite the perfect little couple.

I just love this line. "She surprised me though. Bella kept me."

Edward decides that a majority of the most crucial information of his and Bella’s existence needs to be kept from her. Vampires are allowed to have mistresses and be with humans, but may not marry them and play house. But since he had known they were mates, he should have taken her to the North American Vampire who can permit one to change his or her mate once they have been through testing. The vampires don’t just allow anyone to be changed. They must have permission and should report any violation or intent to change immediately. But Edward wanted to do things his way and wait for Bella to turn twenty-four so they could be the same age. Goofy vamp.

The Volturi rule over everyone and make all the decisions, but Aro does not have a talent. He just knows how to use the vampires that do, and behaves however he wants. And what does Aro want? Well, of course, he wants the smart, charming tracker that is Edward Masen.

The Volturi hold yearly challenges with all of the talented trackers and give them a scent and have them track it. First one to bring the human who matches the scent wins.

Aro has realized Edward has no desire to mate with any of the beautiful vampires or join the Volturi. He learns of Bella and changes all of the rules to this year's Challenge. He has brought in many of the talented vampires and made the game much more appealing. Plus, has given permission for the human to be drained. Guess who the target is? Yup, you guessed it, Bella. She has no clue that her life as she knows it will change forever.

Edward must learn to trust other vampires - which we all know is not easy for him - and make allies. Plus, he has to come clean to Bella about everything he has been keeping from her, try to beat all of the other vampires to her, and get her changed before everyone else catches them.

Here's a small tidbit of Bella and the Ancients. She really knows how to handle her vamps. LOL

Vladimir rolled his eyes and sighed.” I'd rather get to know your mate, Edward." He caught Bella's eyes in the rearview mirror and said, "Bella, dear, I prefer your scent when it doesn't contain Edward so much. However, I do like the way Edward smells right now. You coat him." Bella blushed. "Edward, this might be the most appealing you've ever been."

The others laughed and I smirked. "It's certainly the best I've felt in days. You just remember whose scent she's surrounded by, Vladimir. Also, stop staring at the front of my shirt she's wearing."

Stefan mumbled, "Possessive. We can work with that."

I remembered the first time that was said around me and realized that they were trying to get me into the mindset of defending Bella.

I am already there.

"Could you please stop talking about my chest and our scents? For some reason, I believe that's kind of private." Bella turned around and stared at our allies then looked me. "I'm glad you smell like me again."

"You can speak of such things and we cannot?" Stefan quirked an eyebrow.

Bella shrugged. "It's my scent. Totally not the same thing."

She turned to face the front again, and the vampires behind me smiled. I knew she had won them over. I glanced at Bella then and too low for her to hear, I said to her, "You're amazing."

One thing I really love about this fic and her Bella is that she is thrown into the lion‘s den, and yes, she is scared, but she is also strong, loving, and knows she wants to be Edward’s mate for all of eternity more than anything. She will fight for their future as much as Possessiveward will.

One last thing I must tell you ladies about Tanglingshadow’s writing- she writes uber hot smut. I mean seriously! This little tidbit is hot and I’m just giving you ladies a taste.

I pressed my body against her and pushed her harder into the door.

"Tell me you're mine, Bella." I kissed across her jaw and sucked on her ear lobe. "Tell me that I'm the only man who does this to you."

She tugged my hair. "Yes!"

"Yes, what?" I ground my cock against her hip and her head turned to the side. I very carefully moved my teeth down her neck and she called my name before gasping, "Claim me. Make me yours, forever."

I dropped my head to her shoulder, breathing rapidly. "I will. God, I will."

Bella kissed my temple and ran her fingers down my neck, "I'm yours, Edward. I belong to you."

*fans self* And ladies we are just getting started here with the lemon. Tanglingshadows is a master at writing some UNF!!

If you just read this story for one reason, read it because the author brings to life so many amazing characters and you feel like you know them all when you are reading the story. Not only will you love Tanglingshadows' Possessiveward and Bella, but so many other characters out of the norm. I’m seriously loving Stefan and Vladimir. They are so playful, yet serious at the same time. This story is truly a hidden gem, and I hope many of you ladies will give this story and Tanglingshadows a chance. It won't let you down, and it will give me people to chat with on Friday afternoon when I'm dying for the next chapter to update. Did you catch that, ladies? The author updates every Friday and has written many chapters in advance, so we always get our updates. Is that not true love for her readers or what?

Summary: Bella starts to display odd behavior her first wkend back in Forks since the trip to Italy. What will happen when the Cullens learn of her fractured mind? There's not just one Bella for Edward to worry about now. There's three. *DARK THEMES/SPANKS*

When I saw the summary of this story, I thought how intriguing it sounded. And I definitely was not disappointed. Personality begins three days after the gang returns from Italy. Edward is concerned for Bella’s health and Bella has some deep-seated abandonment issues. She is so worried that Edward is going to leave her again that she even sleeps with him in a way that he wouldn’t be able to escape.

Bella straddled my hips and then laid down on my chest, her head fitting snugly under my chin. This was a new position for us, and it is still somewhat awkward for me. Just the act of her straddling me gets me aroused and that is really not appropriate right now. It's just that, in our new sleeping position, her delicious heat is just right there and it's enough to drive me mad with lust for her warm, fragile body. I have to block out those thoughts immediately, and reign in my control. Bella doesn't need me rejecting her need to sleep on top of me because I can't control my urges. It is not fair to her and it's my own damn fault she sleeps like this now, anyway.

They return to school the next day and things get interesting in Biology when Bella lashes out at Mike Newton which is completely uncharacteristic of her. Edward actually is enjoying this feisty new Bella, until Alice busts in telling him there is something wrong with her.

And there is undeniably something wrong with her. It turns out that when Bella was a little girl she had an ‘imaginary friend’ that wasn’t that imaginary. She went to therapy to cure her of her split personality and had been fine ever since. That is until Edward took it upon himself to leave. Her other personality comes back with a vengeance, harboring and expressing all of Bella’s pent up aggression and anger.

I stared in his eyes for a second more, then spoke. "Christ, you're a sorry son of a bitch, you know that? You stay gone for weeks, fuckin your whore, then you have the audacity to waltz back in here, out of nowhere, and try to play fucking 'daddy' with me? To yell at me? Over a motherfucking ticket? You think you can smack me around and I won't do anything about it? You don't know me at all!" I ranted into his shocked face.

"Don't you ever touch us again," I growled at him.

A look of confusion crossed his eyes.

That's right motherfucker, I said us. Your precious Bella isn't around right now. She ran off, probably hiding in a goddamn corner somewhere.

Angelanharvey3 writes the story in different POV’s, mostly altenating between Bella and Edward, with a few Marie’s (Bella’s other side) thrown in. She expertly handles the switching of pov’s and the tone of each in fantastic. Personality is complete and is sure to give you a great ride!

Rating: M
Genre: Drama/Angst
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Winner in the Beyond the Pale Contest. BxE, OOC, Rated M for mature themes and explicit content. "As she walked by, he imagined traces of her lipstick left on his neck… then his stomach and..."

Bella parted her scarlet lips, the tip of her tongue barely visible, she asked, "What do you want?"
As Edward cocked his head, he chuckled. "Week after week you ask the same thing. Do you not know the answer to that question by now?"
She knew he wanted to fuck her, but she didn't know how he wanted to be fucked. How could she possibly know if he preferred to start with a blow job or simply take her from behind?
"No, Edward, I can't read your mind. Would you care to enlighten me?"
The truth was, Edward had hoped, just as he always had, that Bella could read his mind. He would have paid one hundred times her amount if she could… maybe even more.
"I'd like you to undress me… slowly," he said.
Bella strode toward Edward, gliding the tips of her nails along his scalp once she reached him.
She loved the feel of his hair between her fingers, soft and thick and just the right length to pull when she came, should she be in the position to do so.
Bella touched the tip of her nose to Edward's jaw and inhaled; he'd recently showered. The scent of his soap was still strong on his skin. She slid her hands underneath his jacket, removing it slowly per his request, and let it fall to the floor.
Edward's hands went to Bella's breasts, and he was delighted to discover she hadn't worn a bra. Her nipples immediately became erect from the touch of his thumbs circling them.
"How do you want me?" Bella's lips barely touched Edward's ear as she loosened his tie.
"Under me. I want to fuck you hard tonight." Edward squeezed her tits, his erection apparent as she brushed her stomach against his crotch.
"Of course, Edward. Will you fuck me so hard I'll ache tomorrow?"
Bella wasn't taunting him; it was merely her request.
"Yes."

…..Oh sorry! Just rereading that passage made me forget what I wanted to say LOL. It is no secret that the author of this story has a knack for erotic material, and this winner from the Beyond the Pale Contest does not disappoint in that area. What is surprising is the author’s ability to invoke such emotion and depth from the written word. I am flabbergasted by the rawness of this story. When 22blue decided to expand this story I was thrilled and she was very quick to let us know that Bella and Edward’s journey would not be a smooth one or uncomplicated.

"Sir! I'll have to call security if you don't leave." She steeled herself in front of Edward. It didn't matter that Edward towered over her; she was not intimidated by him. "Only family members are permitted."

Edward stepped back, one hand forcibly raking through his hair, the other on his hip. His eyes were swollen, bloodshot, and his face was stained with tears. "I am her family!" he screamed desperately, earning wide-eyed looks from other staff members. The nurse shook her head at another who silently offered to call security. But Edward hadn't noticed the exchange – all he could see through the tempered glass window was Bella lying lifelessly in the hospital bed. "Please," he begged, his voice cracking. "I'm all she has.

This brand new story from 22blue does have dark themes and carries some warnings but in my opinion, I have never read a story more honest to the characters. The emotions and the battle for survival from a tortured mind is phenomenally portrayed and with each and every chapter I find myself holding my breath, searching for comfort right alongside Bella and these are things I find incredible in a story. If you love a thought provoking, beautifully written story this might just be your new favorite its easily one of mine.

MockingBird by BlueKing141
Review by AquariumJenn

Rating: M
Genre: Angst/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward and Bella are soul mates and have known each other their whole lives. Bella begins to develop some serious problems, and Edward will try everything in his power to help her. But how will it effect their children and their marriage?

Several evenings ago, I sat down to read this and was quickly drawn in by a dramatic prologue. Edward is running to a nearby hospital, desperate to get to his wife, Bella. Once there, he has trouble entering the building and the reader discovers his past experiences with hospitals have rendered him phobic of such places. Despite his worst fears, he forces himself inside and seeks out his wife. Before he can see her, however, he must offer comfort to his frightened children. He is also confronted by his brother, Emmett, who is furious to be dealing with a situation that the entire family has seen coming. He blames Edward and Edward blames himself. He is clearly willing to accept the punishment Emmett is now determined to give him.

It is obvious from the beginning that Mockingbird will not be a light-hearted story, although the underlying reasons are not given away in the summary:

“Edward and Bella are soul mates and have known each other their whole lives. Bella begins to develop some serious problems and Edward will try everything in his power to help her. But how will it affect their children and their marriage?”

The strength in this fiction lies in the character development and the lifelong relationship between Edward and Bella. The story is told mostly from an Edward point of view but also treats the reader to an occasional Bella perspective as well as a third person narrative utilized for flashback scenes of their shared childhood. As I read, I found myself drawn into the emotional aspects of Edward and Bella’s complicated experiences. Both are traumatized children who find one another at the tender age of five. They are each other’s support system from that early age onward. There is no questioning the intensity of their love for one another, first as best friends then later as lovers and, ultimately, as husband and wife.

Of the two, it is Edward who appears to have sustained the least damage into adulthood, no doubt due to the love and support he receives from his family. He is a confident student who develops into a successful businessman and his devotion to his wife is unconditional. Bella, on the other hand, has grown up in an atmosphere that offered little encouragement. She was often forced into a survivor mode, doing what she could to get through one horrific day at a time. While she could seek refuge from Edward and his family, the respites were sadly temporary. As a result, Bella enters adulthood with minimal confidence and virtually no coping skills. When she cannot seek comfort from Edward, she looks for it elsewhere.

Over the course of time, Bella’s unresolved problems not only consume her but also her family. In a story full of drama, I found comfort from the scenes involving Edward and Bella’s two children. Both characters were created with obvious affection by the author. There are loving, innocent and humorous non-canon creations. Their inclusion in the story provides a perfect reminder why it is worth fighting for your family, even when it seems as though the obstacles are impossible to overcome. More than once scene involving Edward and Bella’s children had me tearing up and hoping these lovely characters could be spared any further pain.

The first words in the prologue are song lyrics and hint to the final outcome of the story. Keeping these lyrics in mind during the most difficult moments allows the reader to believe that a happy ending is possible for Edward and Bella:

Now hush little baby, don’t you cry
Everything’s gonna be alright
Stiffen that upper lip up little lady, I told ya
Daddy’s here to hold ya through the night
I know Mommy’s not here right now and we don’t know why
We feel how we feel inside
It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby
But I promise momma’s goin’ be alright

Mockingbird is a story full of one heartbreaking moment after another, dealing with difficult subject matter. However, it also contains lighter scenes that demonstrate the immeasurable value of love and devotion. With well-developed characters and numerous moving moments, it is a story worthy of your attention.

47 Days by netracullen
http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6327998/1/47_Days
Review by anonymouslysufferingfromOCD

Rating: M
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Bella and Edward had never met until they spent 47 days in hell together. They can trust no one, except for each other. Now they're home, and trying to heal as they fight for the normality they always took for granted. Lang/Lemons

I will admit after reading the summary of this story I was a little skeptical, I have been on an anti-angst kick for a while so I was a little afraid this one would be too much for me. The story is listed as Hurt/Comfort/Romance and so far has lived up to those expectations. While obviously, two teenage strangers being abducted and held for 47 days having no idea what they could have done to cause it; this story is drama filled. However, netracullen has done a good job in spacing out the drama so we aren’t completely overwhelmed.

The story starts off with Bella telling us what has been going on in her world, she has no idea how long she has been in this room but she knows that she isn’t alone and she gives us a glimpse of what meeting Edward for the first time was like.

He appraised me in the dull light emitted by a naked bulb hanging from the ceiling, before he crossed the room and sat down beside me on the mattress as if we were old friends.

"I'm Edward."

"Bella."

We shook hands.

"I wish I could say it's nice to meet you, but it really fucking isn't."

After being rescued Bella and Edward are suffering from a severe co-dependency that their families don’t really understand.

"Bella, honey, why aren't you in your own bed?" Charlie asks gently. It's as though he thinks that speaking at normal volume will break me.

"Because…" I struggle for words, "it's just better like this." I doubt they believe me. We're cramped into the tiny bed, tangled together due to a lack of space. It doesn't look better.

I feel better though.

Safer.

Thrust back into a world where they don’t understand how to be themselves again. Not ready to talk about what happened to them while they are away and dealing with parents that don’t understand how to handle their need to protect one another from the horrors that could still get them in the world, would be overwhelming for anyone.

"I'm not leaving her here," Edward says back, his voice just as strong as Charlie's. "God only knows what could happen if I'm not here to protect her." I'm starting to panic. Edward challenging authority only brings bad things.

"Are you saying that I'm incapable of looking after my child?"

"How did that go for you last time?"

If you thought Edward was protective in the original series I can only tell you that the protective caveman that we all know and love has come through loud and clear in this story, although this time, I do believe it is completely warranted. Edward is his typical broody self and he still overreacts, but really Bella is her usual self-sacrificing self so she tends to overreact as well.

The family dynamic is a bit different, Edward is the son of Esme and Carlisle, Jasper is his older half brother while Emmett is his 14-year-old younger brother. Bella is the daughter of a very career oriented, District Attorney Charlie and the best friend of the overbearing, over-excitable Alice that we have all come to know and love.

I will tell you that there are parts of this story that will make you cry. The need that the two of them have for one another is very intense, as is the storyline. At first the family tries to let them get over this their own way by allowing Bella to move in with the Cullen’s so they are still close to one another but there is also some adult supervision. It finally does come to a point where Carlisle demands that they do start to go to therapy.

Therapy proves to be challenging the first time and Edward isn’t really ready to face things yet. Carlisle and Esme then decide that alternative therapy may be the answer for a while, getting a brooding hot tempered Edward into a workout program, while giving Bella a new friend that will need to rely on her.

It doesn’t take long for Bella to understand that if she wants to have a normal relationship with Edward she is going to need therapy to allow her to achieve it. Unfortunately while doing the right thing and seeking that therapy out, she keeps it from Edward which I fear will blow up in her face in future chapters.

"You need to bridge the two feelings and the best way I can think of to do that is to talk to Edward. I know that he doesn't know about you and I spending time together - which you know I'm not thrilled about - but tell him that you'd like to try and explore things, at your own pace.”

We have only heard from Edward one time in the story so far but it was a very well placed chapter and we got to hear from him at exactly the right time.

I'd give her my soul, if she didn't already have it.

How can I tell her that without scaring her away?

Overall the writing in this story is good with very few grammatical and spelling errors and the author, netracullen, has done a good job at wanting us to understand exactly what these two went through without giving too much away at a time. She has also done a good job at breaking up the story with fun and fluff when it is needed, so it doesn’t get too intense. We are only 18 chapters in and still don’t know why these two were abducted to begin with but that keeps you interested and the story seems to update about once a week so you aren’t left hanging for too long. I have been pleasantly surprised that this little gem has grabbed my attention and I did add it to my faves and story alerts as soon as I was done reading. While I don’t think the story is for the feint of heart, and I do think that we will be facing more angst/drama before we are done I do hope that you will take the time to read and enjoy it as well.

Visions of Our Destiny by ForksPixie
Review by Agrutle

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Angst
Characters: Jasper/Bella

Summary: Jasper has been waiting 60 years for Alice's vision of his vampire soul-mate. What happens when she knocks on the Cullen door escorted by the Volturi Guard. Vamp Story /AU

We first meet Bella when she is packing to leave for her semester of school in Italy. We learn that Bella never moved to Forks because Charlie was killed in a robbery. Instead she moves to Florida with Renee and Phil where she finishes high school and goes to college in Miami. Once in Italy, Bella decides to go explore and meets someone that will change her life forever.

She walked up to me, breathed me in and said, "You smell lovely."

I hadn't noticed her walk up to me. I didn't hear her footsteps. She was pale with purple eyes. I pulled slightly away from her and raised my eyebrows at her. What a strange thing to say to someone. "Thank you. I guess," I said.

"Please excuse my forwardness," she apologized with a smile that dazzled. "My name is Heidi. From your accent I assume you are American. I too am American and miss the aromas of home."

"Oh…sorry for my reaction," I said with a chuckle. "It just sounded like you wanted to eat me."

The Major has been waiting for his beauty for 60 years. Alice told him that he had a perfect mate and he just had to be patient. Her visions of his mate had always been obscure, then all of the sudden she could see her perfectly.

Emmett was already opening the doors to the back-porch before Edward had even finished his response. We all stood to follow him when Alice cried out, "NO!" Edward was immediately at her side. The horrors of Alice's vision clear on his face.

"What is it?" I asked, hoping that we had time to prepare for whatever was coming.

"She's alone. She's changing all alone," Alice whispered, still lost in her vision.

"Who? Who is changing?" I could not help the growl in my voice as I asked for more information.

Alice turned to look at me, her eyes filled with the venomous tears she could never release. "Your mate."

Once Bella awakens from her change, she meets with the brothers Aro, Caius, and Marcus. Instantly they can see that Bella is different, special even. She shows that she has no desire to feed the way the Volturi do. Realizing that he cannot train her, Aro decides to call his old friend, Carlisle, to see if his coven would be willing to take Bella under their wings. The connection between Bella and Jasper is immediate. Watching them interact and show their love to each other is beautiful and you can see that they are truly complete with each other. This is a story that is different than I have ever read before and I am waiting to read more.

"Alice is a seer. She sees visions of the future," he smiled, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear. "She saw my future and in it she saw my mate."

My stomach sank. I started to feel panicked by his words; he had a mate and I was already so far gone in my feelings for him that my dead heart ached. It felt as though my chest was being ripped in two. I couldn't sit there any longer. I needed to get away. I had misinterpreted our connection and felt embarrassed by my actions. I acted like a love-sick girl and had begun to fall for him without knowing his true feelings.

I quickly rose to my feet and began to walk away. "I-I'm sorry… I should have known," I stuttered, not knowing what the right words were at the moment. "I'm going to find my way back to the house. Please excuse me."

In an instant he was standing before me. "You didn't let me finish, sweetheart," he said as he placed his fingers under my chin, lifting my face to look at him, his eyes pleading with me to hear him out. "She saw my mate… she saw you.”

The author makes you feel the love that these two have for each other. Each shares their heartbreaking stories and you can feel their pain. This is the author’s first multi-chapter story and I’m sure with her talent it will not be her last. Go check it out!!

Finding Bree Tanner by coldplaywhore
Review by SammieLynnsMom

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Humor
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: A comedy about trying to find your way in life, while trying to 'rescue' your high school sweetheart from hers, only to discover she doesn't want to be helped. Rated M for language and all that good stuff.

Okay, so you've seen more. Now, is this the girl you think you know?" I nodded my head slowly as Emmett's smile grew wide. "Holy shit, how in the hell do you know a porn star? Forget it; I don't know that I want to know the answer to that. My next question is… does she have single friends who want to fuck me?"

"Emmett, I have no fucking idea. I haven't talked to her in four years."

"Oh my god." Emmett's eyes literally bugged out of his head and realized I had said too much.

"This is Bella. Holy shit. Bree Tanner is Bella Swan. No wonder you are still hung up over that girl, she must have been one good fucking lay."

So, what would you do if you found out your high school sweetheart was starring in porn?

That’s the question Edward Cullen is faced with in Finding Bree Tanner by Coldplaywhore.

Edward Cullen and Bella Swan were high school sweethearts during their four years at Forks High School. They were torn apart when family obligations caused Edward to take his full-ride scholarship to the University of Washington, while Bella Swan pursued her college dream at UCLA in California.

It’s now been four years, and Edward Cullen has moved back home to Forks, to work as a CPA in his family’s firm. Despite the time lapse, though, Edward’s feelings have not gone away, and he even spends time searching his facebook friends for clues and information on Bella’s life.

While fumbling with movie rentals, after running into Police Chief Charlie Swan, his ex-girlfriend’s dad, he arrives home to his roommate, Emmett McCarty, with take-out and a movie. While The Clash of the Titans was the intended movie pick, the porn disc inside revealed a whole new truth to the life Edward thought Bella was leading. Though the disc claimed the movie starred ‘Bree Tanner’, Edward is certain the woman having sex is his once former flame, Bella Swan.

What I appreciated the most was the unique story line and hilarity behind it all. Both Edward and Emmett are well written, funny, and likable characters that are easy to read. The story is only updated to chapter three, where Edward and Emmett begin to make plans to fly to California. Their goal is to find Bella, who Edward is convinced would never willingly do porn, and to bring her back home.

Coldplaywhore is known for her swift updates and happy stories, so I now look forward to reading the journey of Edward and Emmett while they search for Edward’s old flame. What will they find when they get to California? And, where will it lead? Only time will tell.

Winds of Change by angela4148

*This Story is No Longer Available*

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Written for the 'A Picture Says it All' Contest... Just like the weather, people are unpredictable. The question is whether you should shield yourself from the storm or brave the winds of change.

When I was given this story to read and review, I seriously had no idea what to expect. Once I read the first chapter, I was pretty much hooked! I started this story yesterday morning after my daughter went down for her morning nap. By 1:00 am, I was finished with it.

This story is about Edward and Bella being best friends since high school. Bella happens to fall pretty hard for Edward, but Edward only seems to be “in like” with Bella, not “in love” like she is with him. Ten years go by, they both go to the same college together and live off campus but on opposite sides of the city. While living in the complex where Bella lives, she meets a guy named Paul and decides that she is never going to have “her Edward” so why not start seeing Paul. After a crazy chain of events, Edward finally has an epiphany...but the problem is, he witnesses something that Bella never told him about that makes Edward think that he may be too late.

While Edward and Bella were still in high school, Bella lost her mother suddenly. Things happen a few years after with Bella's father and Edward helps her get through every step of the way. It turns out that Edward is going to be needed for support once again when the same thing happens 5 years later to Bella's father.

This just happens to be one of my favorite scenes with Bella and her father...

"Well then, lets talk it out. Maybe if you talk about it, it would make more sense. I know saying things out loud helps me. Why do you think I talk to myself all the time," he said with a chuckle.

"Ready to put your mom hat on?" I asked. This was our thing, anytime I wanted to talk about something that I would have gone to my mom for, he would suck it up and try to channel what she would say or do. He picked up a pretend hat, blew the dust off, and sat it on his head.

"I wanted to say yes so bad, it was weird. Even after everything we've been through, I wanted to say yes. You know how I told you that I was dating that guy Paul?" He nodded his head and gritted his teeth a little. He didn't like the idea that I was dating someone he didn't know. If it got any more serious I was going to have to introduce them.

My dad raised his eyebrows but kept his mouth shut.

"I just have no clue what to do, Dad. I really like Paul but it's Edward, my Edward. He's my best friend." I hung my head and wanted to cry, but it seemed like I didn't have any more tears left to shed.

"You have to do what makes you happy, baby girl. That's all I can say. I know that Edward has done a ton of stuff to make you cry. At the end of the day, does all the good cancel out the bad and still leave a little extra good to use up?" he asked with raised eyebrows. Leave it my dad to get all deep with me while putting together pressed wood furniture.

All around this story is wonderful. This story made me laugh, cry, and happy all through the story. I can't say it enough, it's an amazing story and you must go read it!

Sex Shops & Lollipops by il-bel-mondo
Review by Obsmama

Rating: M
Genre: Humor/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Bella's a determined professional, her career takes priority in her life. With no time to date she decides to get herself a B.O.B. When it leaves her less than'satisfied' she returns to the store & meets a sexy manager who offers to show her the bunny way

When I stumbled upon this story, I thought to myself ‘how could I not read it with a title like Sex Shops and Lollipops?’ Come on! I went in blind, had no idea of the storyline or what other’s feeling were on the story and what I found was so much more than just a tale of a sexually frustrated woman and her bunny. I found humor and snark; I found a talented storyteller and an Edward to die over. I found UST that left me breathless, and more than that I found a character I could relate to on so many levels in this Bella. We begin this journey meeting a sexually frustrated and tired Bella, who is a medical intern. She is working long sporadic hours and is in need of a “friend”. So, on a whim she decides to head to West Hollywood and pick up her own B.O.B.

"Is there something I can help you find?" A southern voice as smooth as a good whiskey drawled from beside me. I turned, and he grinned widely at me. "I'll take it from the lack of speech and the wide doe eyes that you're a virgin." When I coughed and started sputtering and choking on nothing he added, "I mean in the shop...a virgin here to the store...a first-timer." The wicked glint in his ocean blue eyes told me he knew exactly what he'd said.

"I'm too busy with work to date." Yes, this was the only solid, complete sentence my brain could form, and I had word vommed it all over his pretty boy toes, peeking out from the straps of some Birkenstocks. But even with my embarrassment, the damned evil cowboy dressed like a hippie, winked, nodded, and with his hand still at my elbow walked down the center aisle.

"You look like you could handle yourself in the right situation...and by that I don't mean handle yourself. You're no wimp, prissy girl...I can sense the tough in you, but I still think you're a pinky." All the wrong sexual innuendos I'd heard at work and throughout my life exploded in my frontal lobe, and once again I was stammering at the blue-eyed devil. "This is one of the most popular with your type. And by type, I mean strong, virginal, hard working, pinky persona."

With a final wink, he slapped a rectangular black box in my palm before pointing toward the register. The slinky blonde working the till nodded at him and waved me over. Who knew? It looked like he got commission on my potential orgasm inducer. I started giggling at the momentary thought of percentage per production. Multiple orgasms would equal a higher commission rate.

The woman at the counter rang up the black box-that I hadn't even bothered to check over-and in a too nasal voice said, "With the discount, it'll be thirty-four dollars on the dot."

"Discount?" I mumbled incoherently. I got a nod in return and a flick of blonde hair in the direction of Winky the devilish Cowboy. He grinned, and I handed over my credit card. And as I signed my name on the receipt, I realized I was glad I no longer shared a bank account with the paternals. Think of the fun conversation you're missing out on. "Bella, what did you purchase at the Pleasure Chest? Do we need to have a talk? Is there something you're keeping to yourself? You don't have to...just talk to me."

Again with the hysterical giggling as I walked away from the counter. I was pretty sure I was laughing and clutching at the solid black plastic bag like I was some junkie that had just scored with my drug of choice. Oh, sex toy...you are my personal brand of heroin.

But things don’t go quite as planned on her “date” with the new toy and she is left frustrated as ever. When she decides to return the object of said frustration, she meets the green-eyed smirk of the shop owner and the UST starts immediately. The way this Edward handles this high strung Bella has me breathless with laughter and panting for more. When he tracks her down and presents her with a new toy and an offer to show her how to use it, what girl would say no?

Things are never as easy as one intends them to be and as Edward gets to know Bella and her tale of sexual woe, he no longer wants just a lust filled evening with her but to get to know this crazy, smart, funny beauty. Not to say that while they get to know each other he can resist showing her what true sexual pleasure that new toy can bring her.

"Just relax, Bella." His words ghosted over my stomach as his hands moved my own back to the bedspread.

I was so close to sitting up and asking what the fuck was wrong with him that he didn't want my pants off, when I heard something that instantly made me wet and my body tighten up.

The steady and slow whirring of the Rabbit sounded like heavy bass on an amped up radio. Deafening.

"Fuck me," I whispered to myself in anticipation, sure the epic buzzing had drowned out my words.

"Not quite yet," Edward responded. My head shot off the mattress enough to see a grinning Sex Guru with very hooded eyes staring back. I watched as he ran his fingers over the top of my thigh and noticed that under his gaze all the noise fell away.

His other hand moved while I was entranced, the long graceful digits tracing circles just below the rise of my hip bone. There was a sudden pressure right where my clit was hidden under the seam of my jeans.

Tearing my eyes away from the dancing fingertips, I saw just what he was doing. Slick bastard he was. Poking its head out, literally, from between my legs was my brand-spanking-new see through shiny purple toy.

Hey there, friend, nice to finally meet you. Great my vagina was doing introductions now.
Edward bent, and I saw his tongue poke out of his mouth at the same time that the slow whirring was back and sending vibrations through my hoo-hah.

Sweet jesus in heaven, I thought - and may have even uttered into the darkness. My eyes shut, and my head slammed back into the bed. The dual combination of his mouth on my exposed flesh just above the waistband and the slight hum just below had me fisting the comforter tightly already.

This story is nine chapters in so far and I am already in love with the characters and pop culture references. Let’s just say the scene in a Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant left me with tears of laughter. The author has an amazing sense of humor and quite the flare for the citrus. Read, laugh, lust and enjoy!

Say Something Else by vampireisthenewblack
Review by Einfach Mich

Rating: M
Genre: Angst/Romance
Characters: Edward/Alec

Summary: When he suffers the worst kind of heartbreak, Edward returns home, resigning himself to a lifetime of loneliness. But he had not counted on old friendships and old crushes. Edward is torn between old love and new... Slash, AH, OOC. Mature content.

Say Something Else is an intimate portrait of love, loss and the grieving process. Edward has just lost the single most important person in his life, his partner in love and life, Alec. He has returned home to Forks, to regroup and try to cope with the loss of his lover. It's here that he runs into an old friend, Seth Clearwater, and his grieving takes on a strange new dimension.

5:22am

Where was he?

The voice on the other end of the phone was frantic, disjointed. "Jane? Slow down. I just woke up for god's sake."

I finally understood what she was trying to tell me.

My whole world collapsed.

Vampireisthenewblack weaves a story that is both haunting, and seductive. She doesn't downplay Edward's grief or minimize his relationship for the sake of making Seth more desirable. If anything, I often felt Edward's own hesitation about whether he should even contemplate a friendship with Seth so soon after Alec's death. It's a legitimate question, that is given depth of Edward's grief.

I kissed him, swallowing his gasps and moans as I drove him closer and closer toward his release. He began to whimper, his legs tightening around my waist, his body tensing around me, and I pulled back to look into his eyes, wide and fevered, and whispered: "Come for me, baby," and he did, exploding onto our stomachs, clenching around my cock and crying my name. I thrust into him, once, twice more and then I followed, filling him with my passion. "I love you, Alec," I breathed into his ear.

I still reached out when I woke. It was too soon, too recent, and I could smell him, I could feel him lying next to me. But he wasn't there, and the realisation jolted me fully awake. I was hard, because I'd been dreaming about him. I rolled onto my back, ignoring my erection and let the tears come.

In the midst of this turmoil, Seth appears like a harbor for Edward to escape from the pity/sympathy and concern of his family. A friend that doesn't judge him and is genuinely curios about his relationship with Alec. The innate attraction that the two men is a complication, but it is also believable when you see how compatible they are to each other.

I pulled myself away from Seth, my lips burning from the kiss, the taste of him, beer and warmth and comfort, but I felt like my heart was breaking all over again. "Holy fuck," I gasped.

He looked shocked, surprised, and as I watched, he sucked his lower lip into his mouth and scraped his teeth across it. His posture was pure uncertainty, his fists clenching and unclenching at his sides.

"God, Seth, I'm so sorry." I stumbled up the dunes and sat heavily in the sand, pulling my knees up into my chest and hiding my face. Hot tears spilled from my eyes and soaked into my jeans. There was a knot in my chest that was making it hard to breathe. "Baby, I'm so sorry," I whispered.

So there is the quandary of the story. Now that he's lost the love of his life, how could Edward ever fall in love again?

Vampireisthenewblack explores this in a way that few authors (fan fic or published) are brave enough to even approach. She shows us that you can have more than one love in a lifetime, and that loving isn't about close yourself off, but opening yourself up to possibilities.

He wasn't a replacement or a substitute. He was so different to Alec in every way.

I love the slow, build of this story. How at first the weight of Edward's grief is so heavy, it's almost difficult to read, because it feels so real. At times, I felt myself tear up from his loving memories of Alec. The transition into Edward meeting Seth again, and getting to know him as a man, rather than the young boy he knew in the past is subtle. I liked Seth, but I was cautious, just like Edward. The pacing of the story was so sneaky, that by the time that Edward realizes the strength of his feelings for Seth, I realized it too. Leaving me to struggle in angish and hope at the possibility of them being together, just like Edward did.

It's very rare that I have identified so strongly with a story and a character, but Vampireisthenewblack puts blood and tears into this portrayal of Edward. Making you not only believe his pain, but so that by the end of the story you're praying for him to at least try to love again.

Say Something Else isn't just a story, it's a journey from loss to gain, death to rebirth and love. I challenge you to take that journey, and let it change you, like it changed me.

Committed to Memory by krismom
Review by KylaPricky

Rating: M
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: 'Til death do us part wasn't supposed to come before Happily ever after. Bella is a widow undone by grief and anger, learning about the contingencies of life from an unlikely source.

The first line of the author's summary best captures the essence of Committed to Memory. As a young widow, Bella is learning to cope with not only the loss of her husband, but also how to deal with a precocious child who's dealing with the loss of her father. Bella gets help from an unlikely source in her handsome neighbor, Edward...

If you have ever read any of my reviews before you would know that one of my favorite type of stories to review are the realistic ones. The ones that really hit home.

“Here is one of the worst things about having someone you love die: It happens again every single morning.”

If you want a story that really tugs on the heart strings and not in an angst ridden fantasy type way, but instead in a really touching way and in a totally honest depiction of someone’s struggles in life, than you shouldn’t hesitate to start reading, Committed To Memory.

“Now I am empty. Like the shell of cicadas we found a few summers ago.”

The writing style of this story really wraps the reader up and will shove you inside Bella’s head. I love the stream of consciousness type style the author has taken on, so we can feel all of the hot and cold that this Bella has to go through.

Bella’s mind is all over the place. It’s choppy, quick and random just like someone who has lost someone near and dear to their heart. The author’s engaging writing style really explores the randomness that invades one’s mind after a death. Bella is constantly plagued with the good and bad of Mike, like everyone is after the loss of someone so close.

I also just freaking love the introduction of Edward. While some may think his entrance to the story is glossed over, I really like it because, sorry for the broken record, but its authentic. Bella just lost a husband that she loved. To me, it makes perfect sense that she doesn’t notice his looks and I must admit that one of my favorites tidbits of this story is that she can’t even remember his name for the first few chapters. But she knows he is really good, “like bread and butter.”

Trust, this story will be no wham-bam-thank-you-ma’am. This is an in depth story with details and real raw emotions.

Besides, who doesn’t love a good slow burn? I can just see this story becoming filled with UST that makes us all squirm in our seats as we the audience root for these two to come together.

I’m eager to see if this Edward can show this Bella how to live and love again and you should be too!

Little Plastic Castle by Yogagal
Review by RaeCullen

Rating: M
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Even the best built castles sometimes fall. In a coffee shop, in a city...two people struggle to remember how to put those pieces back together.

In a coffee shop in a city
Which is every coffee shop in every city
On a day which is every day
I picked up a magazine
Which is every magazine
Read a story, and then forgot it right away
They say goldfish have no memory
I guess their lives are much like mine
And the little plastic castle
Is a surprise every time
And it's hard to say if they're happy
But they don't seem much to mind
- Ani DiFranco - Little Plastic Castles

It’s no secret that I adore YogaGal as both a person and a writer, so when I found out she was writing another fic I was immediately on board! She warned me that it was going to be quite a bit different from her usual and that it was going to be very (very) angsty. But that didn’t matter to me because I love having my heart stomped all over! I knew it would be amazing, and I definitely was not disappointed.

Little Plastic Castles takes place over a day’s time. We follow Edward and Bella (each chapter alternates from each of their POV’s) throughout their day. There’s not much I can really say without giving too much away because Yogagal does a magnificent job of writing this story in such a way that provides a bit of mystery about what is going on with these two, but brilliantly puts in little details and hints to have your theorizing until finally all is revealed. She had my stomach flopping, my heart twisting and the tears rolling. Yoga’s writing is brilliant, beautiful, heartbreaking and had me begging for the next update. There is no doubt about it, Little Plastic Castles will break your heart, but it hurts so, so, good.

My head hangs low through most of the meal, but once I finish, I allow myself to look up. A few of the other tables are occupied, some with couples, others with just one person like myself. Nobody catches my eye, though, so I push my chair back, ready to leave and go back to the solitude and familiar comfort of my place.

As I'm about to stand up, my eye catches the daisy on my table and something tugs at the back of my brain. A fuzzy image of a couple racing through a meadow, laughing. The girl runs behind a large tree as if to hide, but the man immediately finds her and they fall into the dewy grass, dotted with daisies. I strain to make out their faces, to no avail, and when the sound of a nearby chair scraping across the linoleum pulls me out of my head, I notice my hands are clammy with sweat beading at my temple.

I struggle to catch my breath and take my napkin to wipe away the wetness that has spilled over onto my cheek .

With only 14 chapters and each chapter at about 1k in size, it’s a quick and lovely read. So please, please (I’m not beyond begging) check it out! You won’t regret it.

The Companion by SamRosey
Review by JaimeArkin and Phoebes.Promise

Rating: M
Genre: Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Need. Want. Desire. Bella thinks the best way to fulfill these things is to become a Companion. 'A guild of professional courtesans/entertainers.' A girl with a big heart, she craves it all but she's impatient, ready to play. AH. Edward and Bella.

The existence of this incredible storytelling is truly a gift to fan fiction. As lovers of unique, rich and sensual tales… The Companion by the talented samrosey fills every desire and more.

The story opens with an explanation, a definition of sorts… Our beautiful, cultured and curious heroine, Bella Swan listens along… learning the very components of such an arrangement.

A Companion is a skilled, well-educated and well-respected member of a guild of professional courtesans/entertainers, somewhat similar to oiran. While they do frequently engage in a form of state-sanctioned prostitution, they are nonetheless treated with a great deal of respect and deference from nearly everyone, though non-guild prostitutes are generally treated in the reverse, even if they are former Guild members.

Bella’s colorful, knowing friend, Zafrina runs just such a business. Bella, desperate and longing for a connection is quite intrigued, willing and honest that this is something to try. While her first match is hopelessly unpleasant, we are graced with the likes of the mysterious Edward Cullen on Bella’s second attempt. The attraction immediate, the desire undeniable.

For Edward, the appeal to the arrangement is the distance he’s allowed, emotionally, personally. This is difficult, confusing for Bella, initially. The boundaries and rules not clearly defined. And with physical pull so intense… lines blur.

"Please don't. I don't know what I'm doing clearly. I mean I do know what I'm doing but… you know what I mean. This..." She placed her palm on the window in front of her. "It's just different. I don't know the rules."

"There are none."

"You say that but I feel like I need some. I feel as if nobody has told me the secret. And you're just there, walking into my gallery telling me exactly what you want…well I'm here."

"And what do you want?" He walked over and stood behind her, hand in her hair, he pulled it back making ways to her neck, her face so he could see. She shivered at his touch.

"I think you know."

"Tell me…"

The journey into samrosey’s sensual vision is as beautiful as it is lyrical. Her imagination is captured by phrasing unique and wonderful. Losing yourself in these gorgeous lovers fantasy world of discovery is pure reading bliss. You’ll hover in voyeuristic style as private moments, thoughts and deeds unfold around you. The story is rich and sensual and perfectly told.

A precious vulnerability lives within both Edward and Bella. Wants, needs, avoidance, denial all a heady mix as new experiences run headlong into old wounds.

"I knew that at some point this might make me feel like a whore but you, one minute you're on another level, trying to reach up to me, telling me to look in the fucking mirror giving it all something bigger than I imagined and the next you're treating me like a... like a..."

"Like someone I just want to fuck! You knew that already, didn't you?" He waits. "Didn't you? Say it!"

Her eyes darker than the night, staring emotions and fighting this. Fighting even though she knows she will regret an ending. An ending to him and being his Companion.

"Aren't I?"

"Yes, that's exactly what you are, and I for you."

His face tries to tell her this isn't something to be giddy about, dates and candy shaped hearts, someone to tell your mother about and she feels it, the look on his face, what he's saying.

Stranger man.

"Jesus, I don't want your fucking soul Edward, but I need words, despite what arrangement we may have, you don't say when and I can walk away any time I like…equals."

"Goodbye then."

Hot, carnal, sensual loving is peppered throughout, so eloquently detailed. You’ll lose yourself in the lustful pleasure unfolding. Their sex so intense and driven you forget completely the fragility of their emotional connection.

Cheek to her cheek, he inhales her scent, scent of this woman in front of him, closing his eyes. Feeling him breathing against her, smelling her, it's so sensual she feels light-headed, it's intoxicating. Lips at her ear, she thinks he's going to speak, instead he takes skin, soft and sensitive with his teeth, gentle and licks, she moans. It's unexpected and she never knew that would feel so... so fucking good, and he does it again, sucking, she grips him, the sides of him, steady.

Edward moves to her neck, skin he knows will push her, no kisses here, lips she feels then teeth. It's wet. He bites down but it doesn't hurt, it's scraping and he's moving them across her neck and it's divine. Legs tremble, weak with want. All of her, she tingles for him, she's wound and wet and ready for anything.

Realizing how hard she's digging her nails into his skin, she drops her hands and goes for the front of his jeans. Popping the top button, he pulls away. She thinks he's going to object maybe, tell her to wait but he suffocates her with his mouth, intake of breath to catch. Clumsy fingers, she pops another button. Tongue, lots of tongue, she gives and he takes, he pulls on her lips and sucks, she takes. Until she starts to push his jeans down, breaking their kiss.

She steps back a little, he drops his hand letting her hair fall, she meets his eyes and tucks her fingers under his boxers, continuing to push them both down.

She bends to meet herself and comes face to face with him, hard, full, hard and oh... She stands and he steps out of his clothes, kicking them to the side.

"Show me?"

Show you what? She doesn't know what he means.

She doesn't know and doesn't wait, she pushes up against him, taking him in her hand, between them, tight she grips him and begins to move. Slow at first, small gasps he makes.

"Wait."

"What?"

He pulls at her dress, and pulls his bottom lip into his mouth, teeth, he bites. It's sexy and carnal. He wants to tear it off her body. He wants to feel her body against his while she makes him come.

Taking the sides of her dress in his hands he pulls it up, he doesn't take his time, she lifts her arms and it's gone, he drops the dress and puts his arms around her, his fingers trace around her shoulders, fingering the back of her bra, he unclasps it and pulls back, bringing it with him. Her arms out he pulls it down and sees her complete. Nipples, they taunt him, as he looses the bra he leans forward and kisses the top of her breast, and then the other, taking her in his hand he plays and pulls and it hurts in the strangest way. It's pleasure, she wants to cry out but doesn't.

He leaves her wanting more and steps back once again.

"Take off your panties."

Treat your senses, your mind and your soul to the beauty that is The Companion. The fresh plotline is textured with surprise, the setting explodes with delicious detail, the dialogue is so believable and vivid. Samrosey offers you phrases that dance, characters bursting with heightened emotions, primal desires weaved poetically into a sensual love story. As a work in progress, the beautiful words filling only 16 chapters… don’t hesitate.
