Masquerade by twilightheaded23

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward and Bella have perfected charades of normalcy for the sake of protecting themselves. But when their lives are forced to intertwine, will they be able to see through each other's walls? M for lang/slight angst/lemons . Human/AH/Slightly OOC

This story starts in a bar, continues in a club, and develops in a classroom. Sounds intriguing?

Masquerade is Twilightheaded23’s first multi-chapter fiction, and it’s clear from the beginning that she knows where she wants it to go. The author takes her time setting the scene, establishing the characters (all the usual suspects are here besides Bella and Edward; watch out for a particularly fierce Victoria!), and slowly unraveling their back stories.

From the very first moment they, Bella and Edward, set eyes on each other, it is clear that their attraction is sizzling- and that is one of the things I liked most about this story. There can be no mistake that they are into each other, and they both know it. Obstacles get thrown in their respective paths, and they are both forced to delay their gratification (as are we, the readers!)… but it is inevitable they’ll get together, and when they do… well, I’ll let you find out for yourself, but let’s just say it’s worth the wait!

There’s two other things I liked about this story: one, Bella is a strong, fun, lively character. She does have insecurities and a somewhat troubled past, and she does fall down a lot (I guess you can’t completely escape canon…), but she’s feisty and sassy and someone you’d want to be friends with and, more importantly, keep reading!

Finally, I really liked the way music is tightly woven into the plot. All the characters in this story are into music, in one way or another, and you can really feel the author’s enthusiasm for the subject. It made me want to find out more about some of the songs and authors that she mentions, and that’s always a good thing.

“The music continued, hauntingly beautiful. It ranged across the entire piano and I could feel the emotion behind the piece. It made me feel heartbroken, depressed, all around sad. But when it approached the end, the music changed, leaving me with a nuance of hope.

Whoever was playing though struggled with the last few bars. I could hear them start and stop, varying the chords looking for the right fit. A frustrated bang sounded from above and nearly made me jump out of my chair. I assumed their fists had slammed onto the keys creating the unpleasant sound.

There was a long pause before the familiar sounds of "Here Comes the Sun" reached my ears. What I didn't expect was the voice that started to sing along.

Angel.”

Overall, this is a fun, sexy story that will keep you reading and hoping for a HEA.

This story's been on my list to read for a while, and I've been dying to read it. This rec only makes me want to read it more! And talk about a fabulous video. Wow, this one is amazing. It totally makes me want to stop what I'm doing and start this story immediately! If only I didn't have limited time and wayyyy too many stories already in progress. But soon, very soon... Thanks for another great review.
