Return of the King by A Cullen Wannabe
Review by Dragonfly336

Rating: M
Genre: Crime/Suspense
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: When the body of a young girl is found, all signs point to convicted serial killer, Royce King, currently behind bars. FBI Agent Bella Swan and her team have to race against time to discern who the real killer is before time runs out.

Return of the King starts on a hot summer night at a crime scene. There we meet a team of investigators in the form of our favorites, the Cullens. Bella leads the team that consists of Emmett, Alice and Jasper as investigators, Rosalie as the medical examiner and Edward as a new member of the team and a very talented profiler. The first chapter is intense as we read about them investigating the murder of a young woman.

Hale turned and ran for the tree line, vomiting into the underbrush as McCarty ran after her, while Brandon melted into Whitlock's chest, quiet cries coming from her chest. At some point, I had fallen to my knees at the sight before us, as Cullen knelt beside me, his arm around my shoulder.

"Is this?"

I nodded mutely, staring at the words taunting us all from the back of the innocent bystander in his sick, twisted mindgame.

Okay Team,
Let's see if you can catch
the RIGHT MAN this time.
One year was enough of a vacation,
Time for the real work to begin.
XOXO
The King

Carlisle shows up in the second chapter. We learn that he was Bella’s former boss and Edward’s father. . He comes in as a consultant on the case, because they fear that it is a copycat crime of a serial killer they put away thirteen months prior, Royce King. It turns out that Rosalie was King’s first assault victim so she is taken off the case and put into protective custody, much to her dismay.

Things start to unravel in the case, linking King’s DNA with the current victim’s, which would seem to be impossible since he has been in solitary confinement. The reader will be captivated as they try to figure out this case.

I truly loved this story. It is a nice short story, complete with twelve chapters. It is told completely from Bella’s POV and if you love a strong Bella, then you will love her. There is also a nice underlying story of the budding romance between Edward and Bella. I felt like I was watching an episode of CSI when I read this. A Cullen Wannabe’s writing is so well done and keeps you engrossed to see what happens next. So, if you are looking for a nice, suspenseful story that you can read in one sitting, this is for you!

The Ride by Aylah50

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Bella and Edward meet at a concert as teenage strangers during the height of grunge in the 90's. When their paths cross 14 years later, Edward is stuck in the past while Bella is fleeing from hers.

As a child of the 80’s and 90’s, I have a certain love for music from those decades, particularly the grunge era of the 90’s. That’s one of many reasons why I absolutely adore The Ride by Aylah50.

We open with Edward going to see the band Live perform in 1996. While there, he meets a beautiful mysterious girl whom he is strangely drawn to. They have a very brief, yet extremely intense five minute interaction, after which Edward turns to talk to his siblings and turns back to find that the girl had disappeared, he looks for her, but never sees her again. In the second chapter, we get to see the beginning from Bella’s point of view, but it ends on a far more ominous note.

Fast forward just over a decade to thirty year old Edward going about his life in NYC and yet not really living. Edward gave up on his dream to be a musician, and settled for a business degree. He is now stuck working 9 to 5 at the Engineering business he started with his brother, Emmett, and brother-in-law, Jasper right out of school. He’s not happy at all with his solitary existence as he wanders through his daily life, bored to tears.

One day, Emmett convinces him to go to his gym, where he decides to take a spin class, led by a woman he finds extremely familiar, but he just can’t place. He instantly feels drawn to her and her connection to the music she uses for the class, much the same taste as his own. Of course, we eventually learn that the mystery girl is Bella, and we set off on a journey, which slowly uncovers where they first met and what really happened to Bella that night that traumatized her and changed her life forever.

This is an extremely well written story and Aylah50 does a fantastic job of dealing with the ramifications of Bella’s trauma. The night terror flashback scenes do get very intense and it makes you really feel what Bella went through. It’s a beautiful story of pain, healing, and fate, and is a definite must read!

Awakening by bbwraven

Review by Acullenwannabe

Summary: Rockstar Edward Cullen is going to Forks for much needed R&R with family and friends. He didn't expect to find old flame Bella Swan dealing with an abusive husband. Can he put his bruised ego aside to be there for Bella, risking his heart to her again?
There are many different types of stories in the Twilight fandom, some funny and lighthearted, some dark and scary, and some, like the fic I am reviewing today, deal with serious real life issues in an insightful way. Awakening by bbwraven is a great example of this type of story.

Bbwraven does an amazing job weaving the tale of pain and heartache linked to the survivors of domestic abuse in this tale of a worn and broken Bella who keeps returning to her dangerously abusive husband, James Ramsey, time and time again after horribly painful injuries at his hands. Dr. Cullen is an ER physician who has taken a serious interest in Bella. He wants to help, but his hands are tied.

When Dr. Cullen’s kids, who work together in the band Cullen, front lined by Edward, come home for a hiatus after a very long tour, worlds collide once more as former flame Edward discovers what happened after he left. As the story continues, showing the painful path Bella takes through the process of choosing to leave and recovering from not only her physical, but also her emotional wounds, both parties discover the deceit that not only kept them apart, but also kept Bella trapped and feeling obligated to the Ramsey family as she endured the abuses heaped upon her.

This work in progress is poignant, real, and heartfelt, leaving us all anxiously awaiting Bella’s final ties to the Ramsey family be severed and for her relationship with Edward to continue to progress. I highly recommend you take some time to read and enjoy, not only Edward and Bella, but also another fun, brotherly Emmett, a always awesome Jasper, and a vibrant, but frustrated with the pixie stereotype Alice, as they all help Bella heal and move on to a better life, free of the abuse and pain she had continually endured over the past four years.
