What if I Told You by ajsilentvoice
Review by Mehek18

Rating: M
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: After nearly a year, Bella finally finds a number for the Cullens in Ithaca, New York. A last minute invitation to a reunion bash at Mike Newton's, though, leaves Bella drunk, alone, and holding a cell phone. Will a stupid mistake bring them together?

Ajsilentvoice continued her entry for The PostSecret Prompt Contest. Her prompt: Drunk Dialing.

Ajsilentvoice questions: What if Bella never went to save Edward? What if Edward came back onhis own? What if Bella made a little mistake that caused all the Cullens to come back on their own?

One little phone call, a conversation only lasting a few minutes changed two people's lives. Was it fate? Or a mistake?

This one shot, continued into a multi chapter fic when the questions turned into much more.

“As if making sure she heard herself, and still trying to convince herself, she said it out loud. "It's time to move on."

Almost a year had gone by since the Cullens left after Bella's birthday. She hadn’t moved on, like Edward had predicted, but she couldn't stop living either. She daydreamed of Edward coming back. She dreamed of being the newest daughter in the Cullen family. She dreamed it all, only to have nightmares overtake her. She remembered the Cullens before they leftand the words Edward said before leaving her in the forest.

He said he'd do it, but she never believed he could. Well, he'd proven her wrong alright.

Her anger, resentment, and sadness spilled out in one drunken phone call she made to the Cullens.

"No, but I'd really...really like to talk to you. You're a...a...bastard, you know that?" She sat up straight and balled her fist at her side.

In her drunken moment, she opened up her fears of never being good enough, of never being with the Cullens again, of never seeing Edward again.

"NO! I know. I know this." She mumbled incoherently again before deciding on a memory. "You're in L.A.! You and your perfect family with your perfect life. I never fit in. You hate me, don't you? I'm not good enough."

Her slurred words were mixed with humor, about how she secretly thought Carlisle was hot, the apology she thought she owed to Jasper, the little truth she wished Rosalie knew.

Bella laughed louder. "No, you didn't! You said boobie! Carlisle Cullen said boobie!"

The only voice that made her phone call unbearable was one she she wanted to hear but couldn't stomach – his.

Then something dawned on her. She picked up the phone slowly, praying she was wrong. "Is he there? Please, tell me he's not."

The Cullen's came home, wanting their daughter back.

Every mile they flew, Edward's heart grew fuller, healthier, as if nearness to her was a healing balm. Carlisle clasped him on the shoulder, and Esme held his hand between hers.

But this time it was Bella who shut the door on them. Could they win back her love?

"I hated every day you were away. I hated every cloudy day, every song on the radio, every time I pulled into the parking lot and didn't see your car. I hated being happy because it felt wrong. I hated feeling it all, because nothing seemed real. I hated sleeping alone, I hated waking up alone, and I hated even thinking about time moving on. But you?" She sniffled. "I never hated you."

Could Edward?

Leaning his forehead against the barrier between them, he screamed his vow. "I am not giving up!"

In this little ride, Bella's and Charlie's relationship would be put to the test, with wars against family and love. The Cullen's would be confronted when it came to the little human girl who filled them with conflicting emotions. Could that simple phone call really change the path of lives?

Ajsilentvoice writes this fic with a little humor, a lot of angst, and a nice Newton? You never know what the next chapter will bring. Will it be Edward on his knees or Bella in his arms? Ajsilentvoice only starts this story with...What if I Told You...

The Decision by windchymes
Review by AnonymouslysufferingfromOCD

Rating: M
Genre: Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward made a decision after that second biology lesson. Two years later that decision is challenged.

I need to start this review by saying that I am incredibly excited about this week’s story, since it’s reviewer pick week and I have chosen the story to review. One of my all-time favorite AU vamp fics ever is Distractions by Windchymes, so when I saw that she was writing another multi-chapter fic, I was ecstatic.

As the summary states, Edward made a decision after that second biology lesson with Bella and it wasn’t the decision that we all expected him to make, he decided to leave and not risk Bella’s safety. Haunted by the memory of Bella, and faced with the knowledge that he loves her, he has to live with that decision.

The Decision starts out two years later. While in Chicago checking on his property there; Edward sees his one true love moving in across the street from his boyhood home. Determined not to make the same mistakes again, he works on approaching a more outgoing, college student Bella and tries to figure out the best way for him to date the woman he loves.

He'd spent every moment of the last two years dealing with his feelings for Bella, accepting them, managing them, and now...

It was like being back at square one again. Like he was back in that biology lab watching her walk down the aisle towards his desk.

He put his fist through the wall.

When Alice called an hour later Edward was sitting in his boyhood bedroom, hugging his knees to his chest while he watched the windows of Bella's apartment.

"What am I going to do?" he growled down the phone and Alice sighed.

"I don't know, Edward. Only you know that, I can only see the result when you decide."

He screwed his eyes shut and banged the back of his head against the wall. The plaster cracked.
"I can't let her go again," he ground out.

The Decision was originally slated to only be around four chapters; however, it is now looking like it will be closer to six or seven, with three chapters already posted.

Windchymes has an innate sense of being able to enthrall her audience us readers with the possibilities in her stories. Much like Distractions, I find myself saying, “now if only he would have done it like this.” She doesn’t write the normal angst that goes along with Edward leaving Bella, but instead gives alternatives to how that decision could actually have a happier ending without the angst. We see and sense Edward’s struggle with what is right and what is right for him. Her characters are more mature and much more capable to handle the obstacles life throws at them.

There are only a few authors that I will drop everything for when they post something new. I am an impatient reader, and tend to wait until a story is almost complete before I read them; but for Windchymes, I forget my general rule, not caring about my impatience and dive in right from the beginning. I can’t tell you how much I love this story and think that you will too…oh, and if you haven’t checked out her other stories, you should read those as well!

The Brat Pack by pkmarita
Review by AydenMorgen

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Humor
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: AH/E&B What do you get when put together Vh1's I love the 80's with Bella and Edward? Find out here! E&B All Canon Pairings and Rated M for lemons!

Several months ago, a dear friend emailed me to ask if I'd be willing to consider beta'ing for her. I'd only just begun reading her story, The Brat Pack, and was already hooked. Naturally, it took all of two point five seconds to agree to her request. I've never looked forward to receiving a chapter in my inbox as I do when pkmarita tells me a new chapter of The Brat Pack is on its way.

The Brat Pack is the often hilarious, not to be imitated story of 80's loving Bella and nerdy, kickboxing Edward. Let me repeat that. Nerdy, kickboxing Edward. These two meet in the most humiliating of circumstances and Edward is instantly captivated. Once Bella's humiliation wears off, she's equally as smitten. And the whirlwind romance begins, complete with oddball friends, awkward dates, and all the hilarity and heartwarming moments that so captivated us in movies like Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club.

These characters aren't your average, run-of-the-mill Twilight replicas. At all. PK's Edward will leave you giggling like a little girl, wiping tears... and then gasping for breath. And Bella isn't far behind. She's original. She's feisty, funny, and just as awkward as her loverboy.

You begin to see why a nerd lover like myself jumped at the chance to beta. But, it's more than that. The Brat Pack is one of the most refreshing and original stories I've read. PK pulls no punches when putting her characters through the wringer. Emmett's first date with Rosalie ends in complete (and hysterically funny) disaster. Girls’ night out ends in a jail cell. Alice's ire over a mistake on Jasper's part ends with chocolate wrappers littered around the floor... and Jasper dodging flying crystal while standing in the street below. Not even Edward and Bella are spared.

"Isabella, I think we need to talk," I nervously tumble out.

Horror.

Absolute horror written on her face.

It suddenly dawns on me how that must have sounded. I have never been good at dating, can't you tell? How can I salvage this? Fuck! I just told her the most classic one night stand line of them all. Work mouth, work!

"Oh no! No baby. No! I'm not going anywhere. You are stuck with me; nothing is going to keep me away. Well, wait, that sounds bad too. I'm not a stalker, I swear. God, that sounds worse! What I mean to say is, I'm in love with you and I know we don't know each other very well but that's okay! I don't have to know everything about you right this second. No! Shit! I don't mean it like it sounds. No, wait, I mean, yes I want to get to know you better, and yes, I'm in love with you! I just think we should take things slow is all. Does any of what I just said make any sense?"

"Oh I get it, you want to talk and now you are in love with me, but you want to take things slow?"

"Exactly!"
This is going smoother than I thought. God, I love you Alice. Victory is mine!

"Get out!"

"Wait, what?"

"Get out!"

I am completely dumbfounded. What did I say?

If it can go wrong, chances are that it will for this motley crew. People interrupt at the most inopportune of times. Favorite stuffed animals are causalities to the love war. Crazy landlady's carry sawed off shotguns and unleash the power of the water hose on clueless exes.

Before he can connect his punch to my man's gut, Edward jumps to the left, completely back in the game, and drop kicks Jake in the nuts. I let the breath I was holding out in a rush and watch as Jake doubles over. My man then grabs him by the shirt, yanking him back up and leans in. He says the one thing that makes me wet instantly. My man becomes John McClane.

"Yippie Ki Yay, Motherfucker!"

The punch my man connects to Jake's face is priceless. Blood gushes and Jake screams at the top of his lungs.

"Ahhhh! My nose! You busted my nose!"

Just then Mrs. Cope makes her appearance and I see the water hose just in time to step back as she sprays the asshole down.

"What the fuck, lady?" he screams at her.

"This is my property, I suggest you leave before I grab my shotgun and blast your ass off of it."

God, I love this woman! I make a mental note to buy her a new gun cleaning kit for Christmas.

Life is awkward, it's funny, and it's so perfect at times, it brings tears to your eyes. And so goes it with The Brat Pack. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. Edward will make you swoon, and Bella will make you cheer. And at the end of the day, this story will leave you with a big, happy smile plastered across your face. It has it all and will not leave you disappointed.

If you haven't begun it yet, do! You won't regret it!

Maledictum Magae by bexi21
Review by Tianiichan

Rating: M
Genre: Mystery/Angst
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: The curse happened in 1692.For over 300 years, Isabella Swan has lived alone, afraid to be close to anyone again. But when she finally meets someone who captures her heart, the unthinkable happens, leaving her in a kind of danger she never thought possible

Maledictum Magae is a story that I've seen mentioned a few times by various people throughout various days, and it is that reason I pulled the story up and prepared to read. I didn't though, for the longest time, and if you were to ask me why I didn't read it then and there. . .well, I wouldn't be able to tell you. Or, at least, I wouldn't be able to give you a good reason. The moment that I finally did sit down to read it. . .I was hooked. The reasons why are many and probably more than I could tell you here. I'll try, though.

The story itself is original to a fault, gripping to no end, and beautifully told. The prologue delivers questions riddled with an eerie sense of foreboding. It is the readers first glimpse of Bella as she's searching for something. . .digging, clawing her way to find it. However, when she does, it takes her by complete surprise.

Chapter one jumps back in time, 1692 to be exact, right into Salem Village – during the public hanging of a group of witches. It should be mentioned that the title of the story itself roughly translates to “The Witches Curse,” so it is safe to assume that perhaps Bella might be involved with a witch. . .cursed by a witch. . .or that perhaps. . .she is a witch, herself.

It is in this chapter that we meet our first Cullen, Dr. Carlisle Cullen. However, Isabella, as she was known in that day and time, doesn't seem very fond of him or his knowing, golden eyes. This chapter is also both our “hello” and “goodbye” to a certain raven-haired, petite beauty named Alice. For it is revealed here that Mary Alice Brandon met her death that day, in the form of hangman's noose. Don't let yourself be fooled, however – Alice is never to be ignored, alive or dead.

The next chapter moves back to 2004 and we find Bella enrolled as a student at Washington State University. She's made friends, found a job to keep herself busy, and, of course, an amber-eyed, cinnamon-haired young man to ogle. Edward seems to pop up in front of her, seemingly out of thin air, and Bella is fascinated by him. That she finds him more than attractive is only a part of the draw she feels to him, but, luckily for our her, she doesn't have to wait long for him to make his move. . .right into her favorite chair in the library.

Then there are Bella's memories that come to her in the form of nightmares.

There's a house in the distance. Its crooked windows and broken stairs make her scream inside. She knew this house when it was alive. Now it only resembled death. She sees the reflection of fog behind her. Its thick surging smoke chases after her, wanting to claim her for its own – a specter of the night.

She turns. There's a figure nearby. Its black mass darts in and out of the woods, hiding behind the obsidian trees. Its too fast and she has no where to go.

Heart pounding, the whispers grow louder. She sees the black shapeless form pass before her eyes once more.

A ghost.

A demon.

The figure comes forward, no longer a mere shadow. It stares back at her – eyes the color of blood, hair the texture of crows wings, sharp teeth dripping with clear liquid.

A vampire.

And Edward's eyes that remind her of a life she doesn't want to remember. To top it all off, there's the murder of two hikers in nearby Forks, Washington. . .of which Bella decides to investigate for herself. And then, as if all of that weren't enough. . .there's Tuesday.

Bella stood by her door, watching him leave and feeling a deep ache within her gut with each step he took away from her. When she closed the door, she let her body lean up against it, her mind running back through everything that had just happened.

Today was Tuesday. It was the day that vampires had re-entered her life.

The story is remarkable. Bexi21 weaves an intricate tale and leaves you wanting more each and every chapter. The writing is crisp, precise, and during the flashbacks, the dialogue is true to the age in which it was set. Period piece, present day piece, alternate universe and supernatural all wrapped into one – very coolly titled – package. Trust me when I say, this isn't a story to be passed over.

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Humor
Characters: Edward/Leah

Summary: Leah Clearwater considers herself a lost soul and happiness a lost cause. Will community service with the new youth pastor show her that even she deserves a second chance?

Sometimes, you just have to take a chance, no matter how scary it might be.

"What if it goes to Hell in a handbasket?" ~ "Well then the ride will be fun, won't it?"

Accidental Atonement by IdPattThat is an amazing story, serious and moving in places, but lighthearted and funny too. It's a great blend and a fun read. IdPattThat's Leah is the best one out there. She's just the right mix of funny bitch and blooming sweetheart. Her character grows throughout the chapters, engaging the reader to continue seeing the world of Forks through her eyes as she follows the road of accidental atonement.

Edward is as beautiful and perfect as we love to see him, but his character is also so real. He's been through so much and found a way to take the experience of his own hardships and help others. Fall in love with Edward all over again in this beautiful little tale of love, loss, and finding happiness where you least expected it.

Seth, Alice, Charlie, Sue, Claire, Quil, Embry, Paul, and even Jacob feature in this tale, set in Forks and First Beach. Subtle references to everything from the pack to Harry Potter to How I Met Your Mother keep you giggling when you least expect it. Even diehard canon lovers shouldn't pass this one up. Sweet Science by fanboymike
Review by phoebes.promise

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward had a simple goal. To become a successful boxer and prove his father wrong. That was until he met Cullen Gyms new Media Consultant Bella Swan. ExB AU AH Mostly canon pairings.

“Sweet Science” refers to the European tradition of schooling ‘gentleman’ in the “sciences” of sword, gun, and fist fighting. Fisticuffs, being the least lethal, was called… The Sweet Science.

First time author, fanboymike, offers a unique fictional journey into the modern boxing ring through a timeless Edward and Bella romance. The use of EPOV allows the reader to experience first hand the intensely competitive nature of the sport and the lifestyle’s impact on love.

The story opens two years in the future with dramatic images and sensory bliss of cinnamon and lavender… canvas and counting. Edward’s thoughts in the first chapter seem full of heartache. The storytelling is full of rich phrasing and palpable emotion. He reveals facts with a conversational technique. Character’s motivations and histories are uncovered purposefully through interaction and reaction.

“Boxing isn't for everyone, Edward." He turned back to face me, his expression unreadable but no longer irritated. "And with your particular skill set…" He paused again toying absently with his glasses.

I pushed aside any uncertainty I felt at this sudden shift in his demeanor. This time I wasn't interested in his bullshit.

"My skill set?" All traces of the calm I had been working gone, my ever present frustration springing back again to my defense. "I made it to the finals of the Golden Gloves tournament when I was an amateur and I won my first professional bout." I knew I didn't need to justify myself, but Carlisle had a knack for bringing out the worst in me.

Edward is a complicated man. The author bravely steers clear of the clichéd, infallible romantic hero. This Edward can be explosive yet gentle, he emotes honestly and deeply. Before even breaching the love story, the tenuous Cullen family dynamic is exposed. Father and son caught in a battle of wills. Edward makes a hasty decision out of frustration setting in motion a course of events that will ultimately guide his hopeful boxing career and quite possibly his personal life as well. As he tempts fate to train with an opposing gym, past demons continue to tempt and test. However, no amount of shadow boxing and sparring would prepare him for the battle within as he meets strikingly beautiful Bella Swan.

As she reached the top of the stairs she made one last sweeping glance of the gym and the most stunning deep chocolate brown eyes, hidden behind her retro oval shaped thick rimmed glasses, could be glimpsed for a moment before sliding past, leaving me standing there unseen, frozen in place.

Hired to market an image for the Cullen family gyms Bella Swan immediately consumes Edward’s being. Bella is confident, where Edward has insecurities, Bella is measured, where Edward is impetuous… together they are a toxic mix of want and need. A room number scripted on paper, a simple invitation, evolves into a fantasy realized. Edward falls fast and he falls hard.

"Are you planning on coming in?" Bella tilted her head, emphasizing the invitation.

I walked into her room on shaky legs, following silently as Bella slipped past, leading me in. I fixated on the gentle sway of her hips as she moved, afraid of saying something that might heighten the awkwardness, I wavered, uncertain.

I had felt after my win tonight that my confidence was at an all time high, but in Bella's presence I was completely undone. Unsure which way to turn, needing to know what she wanted from me. Whatever it was I wanted to give it.

Desire is realized in a perfectly told scene of lovemaking…

As we move together, I try to capture every detail; the feel of her body against mine, the way her pale skin has flushed pink, the tickle of her breath against my face as she whimpers at my touch. My fevered mind can barely hold these moments clear, distinct, combining in a whirl of senses and emotions that my body doesn't feel equipped to contain.

Promoters and patterns, skipping and speed bags, worn hand tape never seemed so sensual… At only five chapters in, Sweet Science promises to be a wonderfully weaved tale of family loyalty, professional ambition, and significant love.

A Love Story for the Ages by missrebecca
Review by Marriedmyedward

Rating: T
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Edward was changed in 1918 unaware that his betrothed lay dying in an alley outside the hospital. Every eighteen years she comes back to him, only to die a horrible death. Can they find a way to stop it, before it's too late?

Imagine, you are a month away from marrying the love of your life, in the year 1918, to have your love taken way just as quickly as they appeared. Someone dies, another was dying but survived somehow. Years go by, and that same person that shouldn't be alive is standing right in front of you. What would you do?

He'd convinced himself he had been hallucinating, transferring a latent human memory onto the image of this girl, who just so happened to look like her and share her name. A complete coincidence. But the second time he saw her, he thought for sure he was going mad.

She'd turned up in England, as they were visiting Carlisle's human home. Her hair was long and curled just so beneath her hat, nearly eighteen years after he'd last seen her. She wore a blue dress, with a wide neck to show her glorious collar bones, the same ones he wished he could kiss like before. And she'd smiled, introducing herself.

"Good evening. I'm Bella and you are?"

Now, add the fact that you get a few months again with your love, to only have lost the love of your life once again. Would you continue to let it happen, or would you find a way to stop this cruel cycle from happening? That's the decisions that Edward is left with in this amazing story.

"Do you love me?" she asked, as she lay herself down on the ground, wincing at the pain slicing through her limbs.

"More than anything." He murmured, grasping onto her outstretched hand as though it held all answers to life. He couldn't just let her die. But what could he do, he'd promised himself he wouldn't make her like him, that he wouldn't condemn her to this half life.

"I know what you are, my love." She whispered, coughing blood after she spoke, "Can't I be what you are, and be by your side for forever?"

At her words Edward broke down. His cries echoing off the surrounding trees who were audience to his grief. His mind was shouting at him, telling him she had no idea what she was asking for. But his heart, the heart that had long ago stopped beating, was telling him to do it. To break her skin and pour his venom into her, to save her and to change her. To be selfish.

What does he do you ask? I'm not telling. You have to go read A Love Story For the Ages to find out what happens **wink wink** and enjoy.

Slaves to the Moon by Skeezon
Review by JaimeArkin
*This Story is No Longer Available*

Rating: M
Genre: Hurt/Comfort/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Self-destructive Bella is barely existing when she encounters a troubled, tattooed Edward. They share a past she can't remember and a love he can't forget. Join them as they find each other and escape the hell that follows.

I discovered this beautifully told story completely by chance. I was immediately intrigued with Skeezon’s summary and once I read the first chapter I was addicted.  I crave a good mystery, a tale that keeps me guessing, suspicious of each new character, curious of every plot turn. Skeezon masters this well in Slaves to the Moon.

As it opens, we're introduced to a troubled Bella and a complicated Edward. Skeezon created sympathetic, layered characterizations that leave you wanting to know more about their past and motivations.

Edward leaned in to her soothing touch, feeling odd yet familiar somehow. Their eyes, locked on each other in a battle for understanding, held firm. Their breathing had become unknowingly synchronized. He felt the need to say something, but feared that it would end this ethereal moment they existed in.

"I'm Edward," he said softly, pointing to his own chest.

"Bella," she replied, almost smiling.

A long, silent moment stretched between them. It remained comfortable and unsettling. Edward's brows dipped in confusion, consideration and finally, remembrance.

"Isabella Swan?" Edward asked, his pulse racing now.

Bella, not hearing that name for so long, dropped her hand and looked down at her shoes. She didn't associate with that girl anymore, she hadn't for years. How did he know?

"I used to be," she answered, her defenses immediately at the ready. Her legs itched to flee.

"I thought you were dead," he whispered.

As we witness their meeting, it's evident this isn't the first time. We learn that Edward and Bella knew each other in what she might consider another life. They share a past, sweet milestones of youth. The relationship they once knew was ended when devastation struck and Bella was forced to move away with her father... And so begins her life altering trauma.

Skeezon’s writing is gorgeous. Her characters, emotions and images are vivid and conveyed strongly through her words. She mixes the significant past details with the present. Glimpses of their youth, Edward's love for Bella seemed like a lifetime between the painful reality of the present. Tragically, Bella is void of any past memory. Some of the most poignant passages occur as he share's that history with her...

"Tell me something that only I would know."

Her statement, taken out of context wouldn't make any sense in normal conversation, but Edward knew exactly what she meant. He looked into her shining brown eyes and thought it over. Memories flooded his mind and he scrolled through them quickly, finding the perfect one to share.

"I saved you from drowning once. We were out behind my house, walking near the riverbank, when you tripped and fell in. You were always really clumsy, so at first I didn't even think twice about it. You must have hit your head or something on the way in, because I waited a few seconds for you to come up, but you never did. I panicked and jumped in after you, somehow finding your arm beneath the water. The water was freezing and I struggled for a few minutes to drag you up onto dry land. I yelled at you, but you wouldn't answer. You weren't breathing and your lips were turning blue, so I started giving you CPR. After a few forced breaths, you started choking and sputtering water everywhere. I carried you back into my house and gave you some of my clothes while I threw yours in the dryer. We never told anyone."

Bella wiggled her toes beneath the weight of his leg and smiled.

"How did you know CPR?" she asked.

"My father is a doctor. Dr. Cullen always liked to make me a shining example of his abilities."

"Lucky me," she said.

"Lucky me," he repeated.

A comfortable silence enveloped them. Edward loved how it was so quiet here, nothing to distract them from each other. Bella sighed and looked at the clock on her wall, wondering how much longer she could have with him.

"We got into an argument the next day because you considered the CPR your first kiss and I argued that it was only a medical procedure," Edward continued, chuckling at the memory. "You were so stubborn and driving me crazy. I just had to shut you up."

"How did you?"

"I kissed you and told you that that was your real first kiss. You didn't argue."

As always in life, nothing is smooth or simple. While they learn and discover together again, their individual pasts come back to haunt. How they chose to respond and deal with the outside forces will ultimately define their future. Please don't miss this well constructed plot of mystery within a beautiful and unique Edward and Bella love story. Slaves to the Moon is currently eight chapters in, don't hesitate.

Patriot Hearts by Wendlou
Review by Agrutle

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: In colonial America, farm girl Bella would rather play in the wilderness than behave like a young lady. Edward is the son of a rich landowner and very proud. An unlikely romance unfolds.

Being transported back to the late 1700’s through this story is the best way to time travel. Back to a time when cars and possessions were not important and family and community was. We meet Bella, a young girl, who lives with her father Charlie and brother Emmett. Her mother died when she was very young, leaving her father to raise her the same way he has raised Emmett. Sadly, that has made her very boyish. She wears Emmett’s breaches and goes hunting and fishing with her friend Jacob. One evening, Charlie tells Bella that she will start going to the Cullen home every Sunday to start taking lessons on how to be a lady. All Bella knows is that she doesn’t want to be a lady if that means time away from her brother and father.

I sit in the chair next to Alice and across from Edward. I am too nervous to eat. Alice turns to me and in a whisper only meant for me to hear, she asks, "Is it true you run wild with an Indian boy?"

I giggle and nod my answer.

"What adventures you must have," she says, "I must hear all your tales. I never have any fun, well, except when we travel. I love to see the big cities and shop for pretty things and dine at restaurants…," it is as if a dam has broken and Alice cannot contain herself any more,"… I just know we are going to be fine friends," she finishes, and I think that she is right.

After lunch, Miss Rosalie leads us to a small parlor off the main hall for our lesson. As soon as she closes the door behind us, her pleasant façade is replaced by a scowl. She takes a moment to appraise me from top to bottom.

"Well, I can see I have my work cut out for me. Your posture is atrocious, your table manners were appalling, and you smell like the inside of a barn," she snips. "I suppose we will have to start with the basics."

She crosses the room, removes a book from a shelf and comes to stand directly in front of me. "A lady of good breeding always stands straight and tall," she says, and then places the book on top of my head. "I expect you to balance this book on your head and practice walking and sitting. In order to accomplish this, your back must remain straight and your head level."

I hold my tongue and do as I am told. Alice gives me a sympathetic smile that quickly disappears as Miss Rosalie begins to lecture us on the importance of good grooming and the benefit of making a good presentation of one's self.

I spend the duration of my first lesson fumbling with a heavy book that seems to only want to fall onto my toes. Miss Rosalie praises Alice for her good upbringing and makes many comments on my lack of it. An hour later, Miss Rosalie declares an end to my torture and leaves the room to inquire how I will be let home. Alice and I take this opportunity to become acquainted.

Bella and Alice become fast friends and Bella soon is waiting to spend time with her during their Sunday lessons. She has had no real contact with Alice’s brother, Edward, until he takes her home one evening after a lesson. She is in awe of him. He was raised to care for girls in a certain way and she had never felt so taken care of and it makes her feel so odd. She doesn’t understand why she feels so fluttery and jittery. He’s just a boy, just like Jake and Emmett, but there is something else there, something different and she doesn’t know if it’s good or bad. He is so handsome and older, one minute he is being sweet and talkative and the next he is short and borderline rude. She doesn’t know what to make of him.

"G-Good day, Edward," I stutter as I return his greeting. I feel a blush coming to my cheeks as I do my best to return a smile. Edward slowly stretches out his arm and offers me an envelope. "What is this?" I ask as I cautiously take the envelope from him.

Jacob must have sensed my nervousness at our exchange because he silently comes to stand next to me in a protective manner. Edward turns his gaze to Jacob as if only now noticing him for the first time. The smile falls from Edward's face. They lock eyes and appraise each other for several moments.

"It is an invitation," he says abruptly, without taking his gaze from Jacob. His tone has become unfriendly. I cannot think why. "Alice has bid me to deliver it to you. She would like you to come to our Christmas ball."

"Oh," is all I can manage to say as I register his hostility. We all three stand awkwardly for a moment longer and then the silence is broken by Edward.

"Once again, good day," he says, nods at me, then turns , mounts his horse and leaves without a backwards glance.

The author has a way of making you feel like you are right there watching her story. I love that she can convey, no matter what time period, the uncertainty of a teen-aged girl dealing with new circumstances. Watching all the different people in different stations in life and realizing that in the end the only thing that matters is the way you conduct yourself. This story sucked me in within two chapters and I eagerly await a new chapter. I cannot wait to see how the relationship between Bella and Edward comes about. Come join the journey now and enjoy the anticipation with me!

Broken Windows by SaritaDreaming
Review by Maxandmo

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Suspense
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: When Bella arrives at Masen Island to finish her manuscript, she's faced with the resurgence of dreams and memories of the beautiful boy who glared at her in HS 4 years ago. Can she solve the mystery of Edward Cullen? 2ND PLACE WINNER PICK A PIC CHALLENGE

Broken Windows begins four years after Bella graduates from Forks High. She remained in Forks and attended community college. Her passion is writing, so on a whim she sends her unfinished manuscript about the boy from high school to the elusive Masen Foundation.

In a moment of sheer insanity, I'd written an essay and submitted my as-yet-unfinished piece. It was a chunk of my very soul put to paper, and once I'd dropped the package off at FedEx, I had a major panic attack when I got back in my car. What had I done? I'd cringed inside, just knowing that someone at The Masen Foundation would be laughing their ass off at my ridiculous attempt to gain entry to their exclusive program.

She is shocked to learn that she's been accepted into their program and will be flown to their private island to complete her novel. The island's location is secret, and once she gets there she notices the similarity to Forks. The weather is gloomy, and the vegetation is rich. The house she is staying at is absolutely breathtaking. SaritaDreaming does an excellent job describing the island and the house in such perfect detail.

Bella is told that Mr. Masen is in residence and that she may or may not meet him. She's instructed to never set foot on the third floor, as that is where he spends his time.

Mr. E.A. Masen reads her manuscript and is curious to know more. They begin to interact through notes they leave for each other and email. His questions and suggestions lead her to dive deeper into her own thoughts about the boy who she thinks hated her in high school.

Good evening, Bella. I've been reading more of your work, and I have many questions; some of them are questions for you to mull over. Have you ever considered that Brad (is this the boy's real name or a pseudonym?) did not hate you? Some of the behavior you refer to is common on school playgrounds and in classrooms everywhere—boy picks on girl because he likes her and doesn't know how to deal with it.

During her stay, thoughts of the person she's been writing about consume her. She dreams of him in a way that seems so real, freshly igniting the passion that she's tried to keep under wraps the last four years.

The first chapter ends with a resolution of sorts, and the next two chapters are in Edward's point of view. The story goes full circle and is very well written.

Will Bella meet E.A. Masen, or will she leave the island only ever wondering about the man who is making her rethink everything?

The Last Breath by First Blush
Review by anonymouslysufferingfromOCD

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: It's 1944, Edward awakes in a London field hospital. He's told his wife was in an air raid and did not survive. This sends Edward on a journey over two continents to find the love of his life, forgiveness for his past, and a joy he never even knew existed

First let me say about this story, I am a sucker for historical romance and I love a well researched and well written story. This story gave me all of those things.

As the summary describes, is set in 1944 in World War II. After being injured on the front lines in July, Edward wakes up in London in September to find that his wife did not survive an air raid. Of course the bond between Edward and Bella tells him that they are wrong, he knows that his wife can’t be dead, he would be able to feel it. That thought and his sheer determination allow him to leave the hospital shortly after awakening so he can go find out information about his beloved Isabella.

NO! I would not believe it until I put my hand on her cold chest and saw that her eyes would never open to me again. She didn't feel dead to me. Somewhere in my head I wondered if it was shock or denial but all of my heart was screaming NO, NO, NO! I will find her.

"You have two days to get me out of here," I spat at him. "You either get me out, or I'll get myself out."

The story is written completely in EPOV, it is around 170K words with extensive Author’s Notes at the end of each chapter, which explain the historical significance about real events that are included in each chapter. When I say that the story is well researched, I mean it, First Blush really did her homework to understand what went on during that time.

Edward and Bella met while both working for the same faction in the military, Bella is a highly trained, very intelligent operative that works in covert intelligence. This story introduces us to a very strong, independent Bella in a time when strong, independent women were not common or encouraged.

Edward leaves the hospital and learns from his former, and Bella’s current boss, Colonel Swan, where he can find his wife.

"Sit down, Edward."

He led me back a few steps and I sat in one of the black leather armchairs. I leaned forward and put my head in both of my hands. The relief was exquisite. I had been convinced she was alive, but to hear it from his mouth made my heart swell. My face burned and tears welled in my eyes.

"Edward, it's not good."

I looked up from my hands, stunned to hear the words. My expression went blank. My breath caught in my chest. It was trapped there in confusion and apprehension over what he was about to say.

Colonel Swan's voice was restrained.

Edward not only learns that while Bella is still alive she is still in the fight for her life, and it doesn’t look good. He also learns that she was pregnant and gave birth to a stillborn baby girl the month before. Bella is also under the impression that Edward didn’t make it and doesn’t have a whole lot to fight for.

This is a story of romance and suspense, with Edward fighting to find his wife, then to help save her life, add to it Bella and her struggle to survive, plus her convincing argument that their baby is alive. It is a long hard road for both of them, but completely worth it in the end of course.

Because Edward and Bella had a whirlwind romance and courtship we learn things about the two of them as they learn them. First Blush has managed to know exactly when to throw in a flashback so questions that we ask are answered immediately.

We get to join our favorite couple on a journey of love and discovery meeting many of our favorite characters along the way, and while we don’t get to keep them all throughout the entire story the love that we have for all involved grows immensely as the story unfolds. We get to watch their strength grow together as they fight to help end a war, find each other, and find their child.

If you have any interest at all in historical romance, I highly recommend you read The Last Breath, I was not able to walk away once I started reading it. It truly is a very impressive, very well researched story with heartbreakingly, emotional chapters that will keep you wanting more.

Beside Still Waters by AmyZini
Review by Les16

Rating: M
Genre: Angst/Hurt/Comfort
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Separated by years, yet tied to each other through the birth of a child, Edward and Bella struggle to work together when confronted with the unthinkable.

If you are looking for a story that will draw you in and then stick with you, kind of like that favorite song you can't stop singing in your head, then Beside Still Waters by AmyZini is the perfect story for you. It's a lovely, well written, and honestly, kind of a difficult story to read. It starts out with a shock, Edward and Bella are divorced, have been for years now, and Edward simply just walked away leaving Bella to raise their daughter. No explanation, no warning, just gone.

So, right away we're already wanting answers...answers AmyZini gives a tiny bit at a time. You would probably get frustrated by the lack of information, but for one thing. We find out really quick that little Gracie is sick...really sick. She's been diagnosed with a brain tumor, cancer, so the story quickly shifts focus.

The writing in this story is flawless and even though the chapters are short, I promise you will not mind a bit. There is so much information disclosed in those chapters, you will surely be amazed. AmyZini's characters are all well developed multifaceted people. Bella could easily come off as stubborn and bitter, but instead you find yourself wondering how she's managed so well for so long by herself. Edward, you would think you would want to hate him, knowing he abandoned his wife and child, but instead you want to find out what drove him away. There are layers upon layers to her characters, and you find yourself anxiously awaiting for each one to be peeled away.

Staring at the man before me, it was hard to remember how he once personified everything I held dear. What had changed him from the teenage boy willing to dive into the ocean to save a stranger, to someone who could walk out on his wife and infant daughter?

I'd seen no hint of weakness in him in the beginning. He was always so sure of the right path—unfailingly strong in his convictions and belief in forever. You are my gravity he would whisper to me before drifting off to sleep. And in those days, I believed him.

But gravity shifts, and suddenly you find yourself hurtling through space alone.

As Grace's condition becomes even more dire, Bella is forced to live with Edward because his house is closer to the hospital and they both want to do whatever they can to help their daughter. They fall into a sort of uneasy truce, each circling around the other, but neither stopping long enough to talk. As it should be, Grace is their primary concern, but how long can they continue to avoid the elephant in the room? How long can Bella stubbornly refuse to ask for the answers she deserves, how long will Edward keep letting his guilt eat away at him?

Edward and Bella have a multitude of issues to deal with while trying to care for their sick daughter. Meddling mothers, well meaning friends, too many years of unanswered questions, guilt, and disillusionment all come together to make a story that is as gripping as it is heartbreaking. Underlying all of this, there is a sense of hope, though a hope for what is soon to know. I am very anxious to see where AmyZini takes this story, but I know I can't wait to find out. Add Beside Still Waters to your list of must read's, you won't be sorry!

Summary: Neurologist/Knight in shining armor Edward Cullen is called upon by a tiny fairy to save a damsel in distress. Disney makes it look so easy. First place Judge's Choice in the Who Doesn't Love a Fairy Tale? Contest!

This one shot is the Judge’s Pick of the Who Doesn’t Love a Fairytale? Contest.

Imagine being on a plane and you’er sitting next to the girl of your dreams, but don’t have the guts to talk to her. Well that’s what happens to neurologist Edward Cullen. He has it all perfectly planned out in his head, but as we all know, real life doesn’t always pan out the way we hope it too. Then before he knows it, the flight is over and she is walking away from him with a frown on her face. It wasn’t until Edward takes his little sister, Alice, to the grocery store, that he ends up running into “The Princess” as Alice refers to the mystery lady. It’s that meeting that puts things into motion for a whirlwind of events that one can only assume would happen in fairy tales.

After reading this story, I was like, ‘Wow!’ It’s just a great roller coaster of emotions kind of story.

Congratulations to imhsfan for your first place win from all of us involved with the Who Doesn’t Love a Fairytale? Contest!

To the Highest Bidder by RainyGirl1978
Review by Dragonfly336

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: 1849 CA "Bella he loves you! He'll make sure you're taken care of!" Bella runs from an arranged marriage to make her own way only to wind up in something much more sinister. Can she escape & find love & purpose? Mature themes, minor violence/abuse.

To the Highest Bidder by RainyGirl1978 is a story that takes place in a town called Rough and Ready in Northern California during the height of the Gold Rush. In the first chapter we meet Edward and Emmett Cullen, who just moved into the area from Missouri with their parents, Carlisle and Esme.

On Edward’s first trip to town, he is met with a true vision.

She was sitting underneath an old oak tree, quietly reading a book next to the Sheriff's Office. Something about her enthralled Edward's attention. She looked completely absorbed in whatever she was reading, softly chewing on her bottom lip, while the breeze blew tendrils of her chestnut hair gently around her face. She looked at peace and Edward wondered what she was reading. She was beautiful; but not in an ostentatious way. Nevertheless, she was captivating. A compulsion to go to her and brush the windblown hair from her lovely face surprised him in its intensity. He had to tear his gaze away from her and force his attention back to the task at hand: collecting the mail. But as he continued on towards the Post Office his thoughts kept returning to the beautiful girl under the tree.

Enter Bella Swan, daughter of the town Sheriff. Edward becomes smitten with her and thinks of her often through the week. When Emmett comes to him and asks to go to church for their parents that Sunday, Edward agrees quickly, knowing that Bella will most likely be there. She does arrive at church, although under less than favorable conditions, in Edward’s eyes.

Just as they were finding their seats Edward heard soft feminine laughter coming from behind him. He glanced back and there was Bella, looking beautiful alongside Jacob Black, one of the Cullen's hired men. Jacob had his arm slung casually around Bella's shoulder and the two of them were laughing and chatting. It was obvious that they cared for each other a great deal. Edward's eyes narrowed. Was she spoken for after all? Bella looked up and seeing his glare, she blushed and looked at the floor. Jacob didn't miss a beat; glaring right back at Edward, possessively placing his hand on the small of her back and ushering Bella into her seat.

We learn that Chief Swan has promised his best friend, Billy, that Bella and his son, Jacob, will be married. Bella feels love for him, but in more of a brotherly way, since they grew up together. She longs for feelings of passion and happiness that she believes she will not have if she goes through with it.

After a tragic accident, it seems that Bella’s worst fears will come true sooner than she thinks and she flees to Sacramento. Edward is frantic in worry and wants to go look for her, but has absolutely no idea where to start. It isn’t until one day, when Edward makes the trip to Sacramento to pick up a package, that he runs into Bella unexpectedly, somewhere where he never would expect her to be.

He sat frozen in his seat, unable to move, just processing the scene in front of him. How in the hell did she end up here?

RainyGirl1978 tells this story in the third person POV and does it very well. I am always impressed when author’s can do this POV and keep the flow of the story going, and that is just what she does. She weaves a wonderful tale and we get glimpses throughout the first chapters that Edward has a tragedy in his past as well.

To The Highest Bidder keeps your interest throughout the story and it is complete at twenty three chapters. So, if you want a good historical fic, with action and romance, this is definitely one to read!

Cracks in the Pavement by VampiresHaveLaws
Review by phoebes.promise

Rating: M
Genre: Angst/Romance
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Life is never perfect, the cracks always appear. "My Polaroid would show the face of a girl who has forgotten how to truly smile." Even the strongest of dreams can fail to become enough.

Complicated heartache and painful silence fuel this beautifully written love story by the talented VampiresHaveLaws, also author of Evading Edward.

It doesn't surprise me that he pretends I'm not here.

We've known each other for so long, I sometimes forget that hasn't always been the case. It feels like he's always been in my life, long before he'd spoken those first words to me all those years ago.

I can list off his favourite foods; his favourite sounds and sights without hesitation. At least I used to think I could—now I'm not as sure. Things are different now. He's different... I'm different. We're different.

Cracks in the Pavement chronicles the fragile bond between a selfless, beautiful Bella and her handsome, distant husband Edward. They’ve lost their way on the journey of love and life. Bella’s ambitions of a graduate degree and future teaching English were dismissed for Edward’s family and career. As successful and comfortable as their days may be, they’ve clearly drifted from their hopeful, romantic path.

Sometimes it's easier when he faces the other way, that way I don't have to lie beside a constant reminder of what is so close… mine, but also so far away.

It was never said out loud; it simply happened over time, the distance growing further apart, stretching like an elastic band that I keep willing to snap, but never does. It holds strong and fast and I hate it.

VampsHaveLaws employs precious, quiet moments within flashbacks to detail the innocence and strength of their beginning. Heart fluttering kisses and delicate gestures juxtaposed to the difficult reality they tread now is difficult and emotionally intense.

My breath is shaky as I exhale. Is it supposed to be like this... so all consuming? Because right now I don't think I'm awake. It has to be a dream because things like this just don't happen to everyone.

I shake my head slightly on the pillow. "I'm the lucky one," I reply, my fingers moving to his lips, tracing their smoothness.

His lips pucker against them for the smallest of seconds, the atmosphere around us changing like the seasons—winter to spring and back again. "I'm going to marry you someday, you know," he states, his words holding so much promise, like rings on certain fingers.

Woven with textured phrasing and vivid imagery, the story is an extremely palpable read.

I hurry along, my hood getting blown from my head as the wind picks up and bites at my skin, tendrils of hair weaving in front of my vision again and again, willow branches wild in the breeze.

The layered, complicated personalities of the minor characters also threaten from the periphery. A few appear anxious to fill the gaps of this desperate relationship.

I can't help but feel that jealousy all over again as I remember her attention towards my husband, even if it wasn't anything more than being polite. I don't know her, yet a big part of me naturally wants to.

Cracks in the Pavement maintains a mature, complex and painfully realistic plot, not to be missed by readers who crave a brilliantly told, angsty tale.

Bloodlust by kalejay
Review by anonymouslysufferingfromOCD

Rating: M
Genre: Angst/Drama
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: A teenage boy stumbles onto Edward's eradication of Victoria, witnessing more than a human should know. Jane forces Edward to kill the boy, and in doing so, his desire for human blood is awakened and becomes nearly impossible to control. COMPLETE.

We have all read alternative endings to all of our favorite Twilight Saga books but I can honestly say this one is unlike anything else I have ever read.

Bloodlust by kalejay is set right at the end of the fight scene in Eclipse. After the Volturi leave the clearing, Edward hears Ethan, a human teenager’s thoughts, and realizes that he saw the entire fight with Victoria. Because the Volturi are still in the area Edward goes to intercept him before they can sense him, not realizing that the Volturi have spies that he doesn’t know about, Jane, and the rest of the Volturi find him with the boy. After torturing Edward, Jane gives him a choice, he can either kill Ethan or she will kill Bella. Of course there is no choice in Edward’s mind and while he knows that it is wrong he does what he has to do to protect Bella and kills Ethan.

Jane looked bored and uninterested in hearing what I had to say. "I've been generous enough. The boy dies or Bella does," Jane concluded, coming to a stand-still in front of me.

Before either Ethan or I could realize it, my teeth sank deep into the side of his throat. He didn't even scream. My jaw clenched tightly as his hot blood washed over my tongue. By now my venom was working its way through his body, but it could never serve its purpose. Ethan had to die. I relaxed my jaw slightly and pulled my face away from his. His body went limp in my arms and I dropped to my knees with him still in my grasp.

Edward understands that he did what he had to do to save the love of his life, but emotionally getting over it he knows that it won’t be easy. He also isn’t sure that Bella will forgive him for what he has done and he runs into a problem he didn’t anticipate. Although Edward doesn't drink Ethan’s blood, he does taste it and that is enough to realize his greatest fear, unleashing his inner monster.

I am not big on stories with angst in the genre line usually, I hate angst for angst’s sake, but I have to say the angst that we see in this story is necessary and well placed. Edward has a lot to deal with and Bella really has to stay stronger than ever. Alice and Jasper are there to help but even our favorite pixie has a hard time dealing with what Edward is facing. Her visions are changing constantly as Edward battle’s his demons and the extra pressure that it is putting on Jasper causes Alice to just need some time.

"Ali, you can stop worrying so much about me. I'm doing alright," he crooned, then kissed me a second time.
Even though Edward had been doing much better recently, I couldn't shake my concerns about how it was affecting Jasper. And naturally, he picked up on that.

I spun around to look at him. "You need a break," I stated matter-of-factly, looking up into his honey-golden gaze. "And tomorrow is the perfect time to take one. Bella will be gone for most of the day so there's really no reason to babysit Edward."

There is even a part of this story that our usually cool, calm and collected Alice loses her cool and lashes out at Bella causing some turmoil that doesn’t have anything to do with clothes between Alice and Bella.

Throughout this story you are able to feel the emotional turmoil that everyone involved is facing, you understand the struggle that plagues our favorite couple, especially Edward. Edward works to overcome his newly awakened lust for human blood and how it affects his and Bella's relationship but will he be able to tame the monster within, or will he allow the monster to ruin his relationship with Bella for good?

If you are looking for something different that is a quick 19 chapters this one is for you, it is well written and kalejay really does a great job keeping you hooked throughout the entire story.

The Peep Hole Chronicles by FFCollab
Review by MarriedMyEdward

Rating: M
Genre: Romance/Humor
Characters: Edward/Bella

Summary: Three boys. Three girls. Two peepholes. One big mis adventure. A Round Robin Collaboration. All human. Rated M.

So, what do you suppose would happen when you take roommates Bella, Rose, and Alice and they just happen to discover that not only do they have new neighbors moving in directly across the hall from their apartment, but they are three VERY good looking neighbors? To be honest, I'm just as much in the dark as you are...lol.

This is a very interesting story because each chapter is updated by a different author every time. So, your guess is as good as mine on how this story is going to play out. That's what makes this story sooo awesome! So far, we have had a meeting of the new neighbors, an unknown wife, a psycho girlfriend, and much, much more and still much, much more to come! Plus, I might be contributing something to this story come September. **wink wink**

I found out about this story because one of my favorite author's Simone and Marie did the second chapter. So, because they were going to write a chapter for it, I got hooked on the first one and then it kind of went from there. The people who started this story are @ImHereToReview and @MandyLeigh010.

Here is a little taste of what you are missing out on...

"Hey dickwads I could use a little help here!" He yelled as I brushed past him. "Oh! Sorry." He peeked around from his boxes and smiled at me. Fuck me into oblivion he was gorgeous.

"Uh…it's okay." I tried to smile but I knew I probably looked like a kid in a candy store.

"My roommates aren't being very helpful with the move." He adjusted the boxes in his arms.

"I think you're moving in across from me." I nodded and glanced at my watch. "Here let me help you."

"No you don't have to do that…" He shook his head, but I reached for the top box anyway.

"It's the neighborly thing to do." I started back up the stairs.

"Well if you ever need a cup of sugar I'd be happy to oblige," he said from behind me.

Make sure to go check out The Peep Hole Chronicles. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
